Review: COSRX AC Collection Ultimate Spot Cream

Hi Everyone!

We are finally on the last skincare product of the COSRX AC Collection that I received from Stylekorean! I've never reviewed so many products in one day and I'm exhausted!

As you might already know from my previous blog posts, I'm a huge fan of the COSRX Centella Blemish Cream.
I imagine this Spot Cream to be somewhat similar to it, but an "upgrade".

I always have some sort of spot treatment gel/cream laying around to use at all times! No matter what, I always think that it's an essential part of my skincare routine that can't be replaced simply with only a serum or face cream. It's a very different type of skincare treatment that is spot specific that I use specifically to target acne.

This is a soothing spot treatment cream that adheres to growing acne to effectively and quickly overcome areas of concern. Specifically formulated for sensitive and acne-prone skin (just like everything else in this AC Collection), this hypoallergenic spot cream actively absorbs excess sebum while the soothing ingredients within it such as aloe vera leaf water and cica extracts help to soothe and heal inflamed skin. Great for visibly drying out any acne overnight.

Main Effects:
🔆Calming
🔆Clearing
🔆Fast Acting
🔆Recovery
🔆Redness Reducing

Star Ingredients:
🌟CentellAC-Rx Complex
🌟Aloe Barbadensis Lead Water (Aloe Vera Leaf Water) - Eliminate active oxygen to protect skin from irritation by external environment. Hydrates and soothes redness and irritation.
🌟Zinc Oxide - An effective treatment for antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory and wound. Helps clear acne-causing bacteria and control excess oiliness.
🌟Calamine - Effects of convergence and sedation, inflammation or irritation

*Side Note: I love that the first ingredient is Aloe Vera Leaf Water!!! I'm a huge fan of Aloe Vera skincare products and I even grow my own Aloe! I have like 3 big plants of Aloe in my house.*

🍃Madecassic Acid - Protect skin & calming
🍃Asiaticoside - Help keep skin transparent and clear
🍃Asiatic Acid - Strengthen skin barrier & help maintain skin balance

  • Pimples start to appear
  • Zits are ready to be popped
  • Zits are already have been popped

🐇Vegan-Friendly & Cruelty-FREE🐇

Here's a closeup of the opening of the tube of the cream. It has a narrowed opening, allowing only a little bit at a time of what you need to come out. Also, a lot more hygienic than the Centella Blemish Cream which came in a tub.
Here's a closeup of the Spot Cream. It's a thick, white cream that takes some work to completely rub into your skin. Due to the Zinc Oxide inside, it does create that white-cast effect (just like sunscreen) unless you properly take the time to rub it in.

pH Level: 7.0 - 8.0

Size: 30 g / 1.05 oz.

Color: White

Fragrance: There's a light tea tree oil smell, it's really pleasant and not anything horrible and easily ignore-able.

Texture: It's a thick creamy texture that does need some work to be full absorbed into the skin.

Absorbance: Absorbs quickly into your skin once you've properly rubbed it in. Doesn't leave at kind of residue or oiliness, actually makes the skin feel kind of matte. It will create a white-cast look if you do not properly massage it into your skin well enough. Anyone with darker skin might not like this as much cause it might show through really well on your skin, so just make sure you keep rubbing.

Packaging: Comes in a white plastic tube that is really squeeze-able

Free From: parabens, sulfates, phthalates, ethanol, silicon, steroid, artificial fragrance, and artificial coloring

How To Use:
  1. Remove white taping of lid
  2. Turn the lid tightly to the right to pole a hole on the top of the tube.
  3. Squeeze the tube to use. Apply an appropriate amount to the affected area after washing the face.
  4. For optimal effect, put a thick layer on the affected area before going to sleep.

How I Use It:
I use this Spot Cream both morning and night.
In the morning, I use a lighter layer over my affect acne areas, making sure to thoroughly rub it in or else you WILL have a white cast due to the zinc oxide inside.
At night, I will first put on a thick layer of the spot cream and rub it in, then continue on with my face cream. However, on particular serious acne, I will go back at the end of my skincare routine before I go to bed, and put a dab of the spot cream over my acne and leave it on overnight WITHOUT rubbing it around. When morning comes, I'll washing it off with my face cleanser.

Below, I have a LOT of pictures of me testing out this Spot Cream. I tried it as a regular spot cream and as an overnight treatment acne cream. Continue down below to see how well it works and see my thought at the end.
Left to Right: BEFORE & AFTER
I only applied it to areas that needed it, AKA acne areas and healing scars. It's not oily and doesn't produce any kind of shine. Leaves behind a matte feel on the skin.
Top to Bottom: BEFORE, DURING & AFTER
I do see a reduction in redness on my acne area on my cheek, but it's a light difference. This cream is only slightly moisturizing, so it's not providing much, and even so, I'm not applying it to my whole face, only on certain spots. Leaves behind a slight matte feel.
BEFORE
AFTER
Again, I see a slight reduction in redness on the pimple on my cheek.
Left to Right: BEFORE & AFTER
There isn't much change after applying the Spot Cream.

NEXT Morning
MORNING AFTER
Some of the Spot Cream got rubbed off when I was sleeping.
AFTER FACE WASH
There is a visible change in the inflammation and redness of my acne area. It's deflated and less "angry" looking.
MORNING AFTER
AFTER FACE WASH
The acne on my cheek is basically done. It's dried out and sunk in size and decreased in redness.

10 DAYS LATER
Top to Bottom: BEFORE, DURING & AFTER
There's a slight decrease in redness at my acne problem area. Looks almost like it's been "cooled down."
Left to Right: BEFORE, DURING & AFTER
This is a pimple right under my nose. You can see originally it was inflamed and really red, however, after using the Spot Cream on it, it's reduced in both redness and inflammation.
Top to Bottom: BEFORE, DURING & AFTER
I still put it on the healing acne area on my cheek even though the acne itself is essentially gone. I believe that this Spot Cream is furthering along the healing process.
Left to Right: BEFORE, OVERNIGHT TO MORNING AFTER
This is the pimple under my nose, you can see again, it was really inflamed and red. However, overnight with the Spot Cream made a huge difference. The pimple is dried out so much that it's sunk in size, smaller, less red, and essentially all gone!

Overall, I LOVE this spot cream and think it's better than the COSRX Centella Blemish Cream. Not only is it packaged in a more hygienic fashion, but it's also much more effective and life-changing.

It's not extremely moisturizing, only slightly, so don't expect that much moisture from this cream just because it has the word "cream" in it's title. The whole point of this cream is to dried out the acne and also help the healing process along, so whenever I rubbed this cream on my skin, I notice the after effect is that my skin has a sort of dried/matte feel to it. Thank goodness it isn't oily, doesn't cause me to become oily, doesn't have any weird residue leftover, and doesn't cause me to breakout (which would defeat the whole purpose of this cream if it did).

I think the only bad thing about this cream is that it does create a white-cast. Due to the ingredient of Zinc Oxide, which is often seen in sunscreens, it helps create the white color in this Spot Cream. However, it's also the main culprit of creating that hideous white-cast look. Therefore, you MUST make sure you take the time to thoroughly rub it in, especially in the mornings if you apply it and go out. I think this is something that will definitely annoy anyone who has darker skin tones. I find that even on my tanner yellow skin, I can still see the white-cast of this Spot Cream if I don't take the time to massage it in well.

I would say that this cream is lightly soothing, which is what's helping to reduce the redness in my pimples when I apply it. I love that it really does dry out those pesky pimple, so that in the morning, my pimple is essentially all diminished or at least reduced in size, look and color. Therefore, it's definitely helping the healing process of my acne as well.

Rate (out of 5 stars): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love this spot cream. I actually like it even more than the Centella Blemish Cream. It's more effective and I like the more visible results. It's great for all skin types and I highly recommend anyone give it a try.
