Review: COSRX Centella Blemish Cream

Hi Everyone!

Today I will be reviewing a product that I have bought a lot of... a LOT. I've been using this cream for over 3 years now. As you can see from the picture above, I've gone through multiple tubs of this cream! I actually use to have more tubs, but I like to re-purpose them and fill them with other products as well.
I'm a huge fan of COSRX products. I really like that they're affordable while also actually showing results. I've tried many of their products and I'm sure I will continue to keep using them.
~I'm also a HUGE fan of their pimple patches which I've written a review for! Click on the link to go see it!~

Everyone has the occasional pimple, I don't think ever met a person who's never had at least 1 pimple in their life. However, we all need a way to help diminish these pesky red blotches! This Centella Blemish Cream by COSRX is a fast-acting spot treatment cream. It's suppose to help calm and reduce acne scars/spots while also treating sensitive stressed-out skin. This is a non-oily cream that provides some hydration and creates a protective barrier for the skin in order for the all-natural active ingredients to clear and soothe the skin from blemishes.
It contains 7% zinc oxide and 50.79% all-natural centella asiatica leaf water to help with the healing of blemishes and breakouts with its calming and soothing effects.

This is a multi-tasking cream that penetrates deeply into the skin to clear pores of impurities, control oil production, and reduce the appearance of scarring. It prevents further breakouts and retains moisture without adding unwanted shine.

Key Points:
  • Selected natural ingredients: only a select few plants effective at calm acne and heal blemishes like centella asiatica and viola yedoensis extract are used.
  • Mild treatment cream: immediately create a skin protective coating and deliver active ingredients effectively without irritation.
  • Concentrated scar treatment: creamy textured product hydrate skin without oil and treat acne without causing post acne mark.
  • Pure and clear: work directly on acne leaving skin well balanced and get flawless skin.
Some facts about centella asiatica leaf water:
  • Help to reduce breakouts, pimples, and scars
  • Promote collagen synthesis to increase pore elasticity and reduce pore size
  • Prevent pollutant to penetrate, heal wounds, and promotes blood circulation
  • Useful for stressed skin
  • Has anti-inflammatory effects
  • Traditionally used in skin disorders, wound healing, and skin rash
Great of ALL skin types, especially for anyone who has sensitive skin or acne-prone skin!

Here's an up-close look at the cream. It is white and creamy. I wouldn't say it's a really thick cream, it's light and smooth.

Size: 30 mL / 1.01 oz.

Color: White

Fragrance: I know some people say it's fragrance-free, but I honestly feel like there is a scent. It's a herbal-y scent. Some people may like it and some may hate it. I'm fine with the smell, it goes away really fast either way so it isn't a big deal to me. However, if scent is a big deal to you, just know that the scent is light (not heavy at all) and again, it goes away fast.

Texture: Creamy and light. Applies smoothly.

Absorbance: It absorbs into the skin pretty well.

White-cast: There is a bit of a white-cast when applying this cream. I usually am able to see light white streaks from my finger rubbing the cream in. It's probably due to the zinc oxide that causes that slight white-cast (similar to sunscreen).

Accessories: Comes with a small white spatula applicator.

Packaging: Cream comes in a plastic white tub.

Star Ingredient: Centella Asiatica Leaf Water

Full Ingredients ListCentella Asiatica Leaf Water, Butylene Glycol, Helianthus Annuus Seed Oil, Dimethicone, Betaine, 1, 2-Hexanediol, Viola Tricolor Extract, Elaeis Guineensis Oil, Elaeis Guineensis Kernel Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetearyl Olivate, Sorbitan Olivate, Centella Asiatica Extract, Zinc PCA, Xanthan Gum, Hydroxyethyl Acrylate/Sodium Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer, Melaleuca Alternifolia Leaf Oil, Scutellaria Baicalensis Root Extract

How To Use:
Use AM and PM after wash, toner, and serum. Use only the small amount on affected area where skin is easily irritated, prone to acne, and oily.
Can be used as a soothing cream after acne extraction. Apply the cream after extracting blackheads or whiteheads using q-tip or blemish extraction tool.

How I Use It:
I use this cream both morning and night after I have applied my serum, before I apply my face cream. I just do dabs of the cream on pimple areas or any area of redness and gently massage it in. If I have an especially troubled area, such as a huge pimple or really really really bad inflammation and redness, I like to go back in after I have completed my skincare routine and apply MORE of the cream over the problematic area and leave it there overnight. Kind of like an overnight treatment cream.

Below are multiple different days spanning over 2 years of different times I used this pimple cream on problematic areas.
1
Left: BEFORE
Middle: DURING
Right: DAY AFTER
I honestly don't see much of a difference in this picture. I think the only thing to mention here is that the area is moisturized from the cream. I don't see a reduce in redness or anything special.

Left: BEFORE
Middle: DURING
Right: DAY AFTER
Here, I do see a difference in the trouble areas. There is a reduce in redness and inflammation. The pimple in the upper right corner (near my nose) has definitely reduced in both size and color.

2
BEFORE
You can see it's not really redness that's the problem here, it's inflammation on my cheek from light extractions of some minor small pimples and bumps. I applied the cream and left it on overnight as an overnight treatment cream.

MORNING AFTER
The picture on the LEFT is how the cream looks after staying on my skin overnight, I haven't washed it off yet. You can see that it stays on pretty well overnight and has dried down, creating a sort of protective barrier over the trouble area.
After washing off, you can see there has definitely been a reduce in inflammation in the trouble area. There's a red pimple dot now from the affected area that I had extracted impurities from the night before.

3
BEFORE
Here, you can see both redness and inflammation. I had just exfoliated my skin and I was doing some pimple extractions. You can see there's a lot of raised red bumps all over. I applied the cream and left it on overnight as an overnight treatment cream.

MORNING AFTER
Here's how my skin looked after washing off the cream the next morning. You can see there's no longer any inflammation or raised bumps anymore. The pimples have calmed down and reduced in size.

4
BEFORE
Here's a big pimple I had on my left cheek. You can see there's a lot of redness in this area. I wouldn't say the inflammation is anything too big, not like the other example above.

DURING
I'm only applying the cream on and massing it in. I will NOT be leaving it on as an overnight treatment cream.

AFTER
Here's how the trouble area looks after the application of the cream. There is some reduce in redness, but I wouldn't say it's a drastic change. In all honesty, if I didn't see it in the pictures, I probably wouldn't have noticed a reduce in redness in person at all. I wouldn't say there's much of a change in inflammation either. If there is any, it's really minor.

5
BEFORE
In this photo, there's some redness and inflammation. It's essentially just all over the cheek. I didn't do any extractions.

AFTER
You can actually kind of see the white-cast in the picture on the left from the cream. I can see the light streaks left behind from my finger after rubbing the cream on. There is definitely a reduce in redness in this picture. On the picture on the right, I went back in and apply MORE of the pimple cream and left it on overnight as an overnight treatment cream.

MORNING AFTER
Picture on the left is how the cream looks the next morning after being on my skin overnight. Picture on the right is how my skin looks after washing off the cream. There is a major reduction in redness and inflammation.

Overall, I'm really pleased with this cream. As it can be seen from my first picture at the top, I've re-purchased this cream multiple times. I really like that it's super affordable and it clearly is effective from my BEFORE/AFTER pictures above.

A little cream goes a long way, so you don't need to grab a lot to rub all over the necessary areas. If you're like me and like to also go back in and apply more as an overnight treatment cream, no problem! There's more than enough cream in a tub to last at least 3 months, which is great. I'm pretty sure I used 1 tub for about 5 months, no joke.

I definitely see a reduce in redness and inflammation. However, it's really only because I'm looking at the pictures now that I see a difference. In real time, when I was using the cream in the moment, it really didn't look like it was making a difference. My sister even stopped using this cream all together because she felt like it was completely useless and wasn't doing anything for her. However, I kept using it for a good year even after she stopped because while I wasn't sure if it really was making a difference for my skin, I still felt like it was making some minor changes.

I don't really have any acne scarring, so I can't attest how well this cream is for that, but I will say it is good at calming down the skin to reduce inflammation and soothes troubled areas so that redness goes down as well.

I did not see a change in oil production or clearing my pores. I don't believe this cream really makes a change in those areas. If anything, sometimes applying this cream made my feel just a smidge oily, only ever so slightly, so it's not anything to be really worried about.

I would like to note one more time that this cream is have a slight white-cast!!! I definitely see a white-cast on my tan, so it will definitely be more noticeable on anyone who has darker skin than me. You need to make sure you rub this cream in well if you are going out after applying it.

I think the huge plus for me about this cream (and I've already mentioned it twice) is the price point. It's not expensive, not even over $20, and there are time where you can even find it for under $15. To me, if a cream is less than $15-$20, can last me at least 5 months and is actually effective?! That's all that needs to be said.

Rate (out of 5 stars): ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I would recommend this cream to everyone to try. It worth a try to see if it works for your skin and the benefits outweigh the cons (even though there really isn't that much of a con to begin with).

  1. This is really helpful. But I think you've got to change your page setting. Your profile/avarar kept popping down while reading using mobile. It's quite annoying cause your post is quite interesting and I've to keep moving my screen.
