Review: DHC Deep Cleansing Oil

Deep Cleansing Oil
Hi Everyone!
Today, I will be review one of skincare most popular cleansing oils!
This is a Japanese cleansing oil and honestly, I feel like it's one of the original, first cleansing oils that ever came out. This cleansing oil has been out and about for so many years and honestly one of the first ones that comes to mind when people ask me what is a well-known cleansing oil.

(*Please excuse the basically empty photo of the cleansing oil bottle I have up top. I forgot to take a picture of the bottle when it was full and then I essentially just procrastinated on taking pictures for my review for this cleansing oil until I realized I was about to run out of product.*)

My cousin gave me this cleansing oil as a Christmas present, otherwise I probably would've never bought it to try out myself.

Details from DHC:
The original Japanese 1-step oil cleanser melts away makeup and dissolves impurities, leaving your skin clean, soft and radiant.
Deep Cleansing Oil works on the scientific premise that "like attracts like." Applied with DRY hands on your DRY face, this rich, naturally golden-hue olive oil cleanser binds with waterproof mascara, sunscreen, makeup and daily grime, rinsing off easily in warm water with zero residue.
Its botanical formulation features antioxidant-rich organic olive oil to soften and protect against free radical damage, and rosemary leaf oil to invigorate and refresh. Also works great as a brush cleaner.

Great for ALL skin types!

Contains:
  • Rosemary Leaf Oil: invigorates and imparts a refreshing fragrance
  • Vitamin E: Protects skin against free radicals
  • Organic Olive Oil: Maintains the skin's moisture barrier and help fight damage caused by free radicals without clogging pores.
According to DHC, the olive oil they use in their cleansing oils are from organic farms in Spain. The olive oil is refined and purified in their labs in Japan.

Color: yellow, clear

Fragrance: It smells like olive oil honestly. I know that sounds stupid because it is olive oil, but it just smells like oil. I don't smell at rosemary at all.

Packaging: Plastic bottle

Mechanism: It's a pump bottle

Free From: Added Fragrance, Colorants, or Parabens

Full Ingredients Listolea europaea (olive) fruit oil, caprylic/capric triglyceride, sorbeth-30 tetraoleate, pentylene glycol, phenoxyethanol, tocopherol, stearyl glycyrrhetinate, rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf oil

How To Use:
Dispense 2-3 pumps into dry hands, then massage onto dry face to dissolve makeup and other impurities. Rinse Thoroughly.

How I Use It:
I like to use cleansing oils in the shower. I know that sounds weird, but that's just the way I am. I usually go into the shower with my makeup all on, then I make sure I don't get wet at all and take 1 pump for my face and 1 pump for my neck. I rub that all around first, then I go back and get 1 pump for each eye to fully remove all my eye makeup. Massage gently around my eyes with the cleansing oil. Finally, I rinse everything off with water.

Below are pictures of me testing out how well this cleansing oil can remove makeup.
Left to Right:
1. Pencil Eyeliner - Stila
2. Liquid Eyeliner
3. Mascara
4. Foundation - Maybelline Fit Me

Here's a swatch of the cleansing oil with the makeup.

I'm rubbing the cleansing oil around, you can see that it hasn't really moved all of the liquid eyeliner.

After rinsing off my hand, you can see that the liquid eyeliner is still visible.

Overall, I wasn't impressed with this cleansing oil at all.

I don't it removes makeup that well. As you can see from my pictures above, you can see that it didn't remove all of my eyeliner. This is a deal-breaker for me because whenever I do makeup, I always put on eyeliner. If a cleansing oil can't remove all of my eyeliner than it's not that good then.
I know you might think that since it's on my hand it's different than on my eye, but really, even when I used this cleansing oil on my face, it still didn't remove all of my eyeliner.

Although it did remove majority of my makeup, I hate having to go back in after rinsing off with water. I feel like going back in with cleansing oil a second time after having rinsed your face makeup the cleansing oil not as effect in my opinion.

I'm also not a big fan of the scent of this cleansing oil. It just smells super strongly of oil, I feel like I could just go buy regular olive oil to use as a cleansing oil and it would be cheaper and have the exact same results.

Rate (out of 5 stars): ⭐⭐
I wouldn't recommend this cleansing oil to anyone nor would I buy it myself.
