Review: Dear, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop

Today, I will be reviewing the highly acclaimed Dear, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop. This is a vitamin C serum that has become a major cult favorite for many people of all skin types. I bought mine from Yesstyle.com, but there are many other places you can get it as well. I just find that their prices tend to be cheaper and there's always some sort of coupon you can find to make it even cheaper.

A few months ago I reviewed another vitamin C serum that was a collaboration between Sokoglam and COSRX, this was the COSRX Triple C Lightning Liquid, you can check out my review of this serum by clicking on the link. I really enjoyed this vitamin C serum and I've even already bought a replacement.

However, I also really wanted to try this serum from Dear, Klairs since I've heard so many good things about them.

My original plan was to review these two vitamin C serums at the same time so that I could do a back to back comparison. However, life got in the way and I wasn't able to do it. So please forgive that there is a bit of time distance between these two reviews.

I started using this serum TWO WEEKS before I left for Taiwan, starting on March 24, 2019. Then, I continued to use this serum thorough my time in Taiwan and finished it on May 15, 2019. I was sharing this vitamin C serum with my sister at the time which is why I finished it so quickly. According to klairscosmetics.com, studies show that anything from 1% to 20% concentration of Vitamin C is effective. When using vitamin serums, it doesn't necessarily mean the higher the concentration, the more effective the results.

• Those that want to brighten their skin tone but have sensitive skin

COMMON QUESTION/ANSWER: Is it okay to continue using this serum is it turns YELLOW? YES. It's natural for Vitamin C to slight darken in color upon contact with oxygen, heat and UV so if the color becomes a light yellow, there should be NO CHANGE IN THE SERUM'S EFFICACY. However, effectiveness will DROP should the color become a darker yellow or brown.

As you can see, when I first opened my serum it was already a light yellow color. I freaked out at first and thought I couldn't use it anymore until I looked it up online and they said it was still okay to use. Honestly, it probably started to change color cause I waited a while to start using it. I left it in it's box in my room, so it might have been due to heat that caused this. In any case, I wasn't worried about it not working and still continued to use it.

You can see that it comes with a glass plunger to pick up the product.

It has a water-y serum texture, much like many other vitamin C serums.

Size: 35 mL / 1.18 oz.

pH Level: 3.81

Color: Suppose to be clear and colorless, however, mine was sitting in it's packaging and box for a while and the liquid started to turn a light yellow. DON'T BE AFRAID! If the serum is a light yellow, it is still SAFE TO USE. If it turns brown or a darker yellow-brown, then it has oxidized and shouldn't be used.

Texture: Has a water-y serum texture. It WILL run down your skin if you don't quickly massage it in.

Fragrance: None

Absorbance: This serum absorbs quickly into the skin, sinking into your pores and not leaving any kind of sticky residue.

Packaging: The bottle came in a box. The serum came in a glass bottle that also had a glass plunger.

Mechanism: It comes with a rubber tip and glass plunger. You squeeze and release to pick up and dispense the serum.

How To Use:

After cleansing, apply about half a drop to the entire face and gently massage it into the skin. For those with sensitive skin, use after toner and apply 3-4 drops. For those with extra sensitive skin, mix a few drops into serum or lotion and apply to face.

TIP: Highly recommended to follow up with SUNSCREEN when using during the day. Avoid exfoliators (AHA, BHA, etc) in the same skincare routine when using the Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop. Recommend to store in fridge or dark cool pace away from direct sunlight.

How I Use It:

I used this serum both morning and night after I have finished applying my toner and essence. I never use a full dropper amount, I usually just take a little bit of the serum onto my finger tip and put the small bit on certain areas of my face, such as my forehead, two cheeks, and my chin. Once I've dotted my face with the serum, I gently massage it into my skin, then I continue on with my skincare routine. I also apply this vitamin C serum on my NECK!

When I use it in the morning, I always make sure I apply sunscreen to my skin if I know that I am going out.

Below are a LOT of pictures detailing my journey with using this vitamin C serum. I essentially took daily pictures of my skin after I've applied the serum to my face in the MORNING. I always took the pictures in the morning, trying to get the same lighting and time. There might be some days missing because I was in Taiwan at the time and sometimes I just forgot to take a picture. Again, I started using this serum on March 24, 2019 and finished the bottle on May 15, 2019.

This is how my skin looked BEFORE I started using the serum. You can see I have some fading acne and acne scars. I have some minor hyperpigmentation on my cheeks and my forehead. My skin also has a really dull and lackluster look to it.

AFTER

There was some tingling to my skin after I applied the serum. My skin feel moisturized. I don't see any other difference since this was only the first day.

Again, my skin feel moisturized after applying this serum. You can see from the BEFORE/AFTER that my skin no longer looks as tight anymore after applying the serum.

Please ignore the lines I have on my cheek, they're from my towel that I have on top of my pillow when I sleep.

Seriously, it's only been THREE DAYS and you can see the acne scars on my cheek are literally healing and fading away! Especially the one I have on my right cheek.

It's DAY 5 and the acne scar on my right cheek is essentially GONE! I'm talking about the one near the freckle/beauty mark that I have near the corner of my mouth. Even the other red spots and acne I have are fading.

Day 8, my skin is starting to really look brighter and have a natural glow to it.

This was actually the morning I left to go to Taiwan. Again, if you look at the close-up pictures of my cheeks, there's a major difference on how my skin looks.

There is a few day gaps between DAY 12 and DAY 16. I was flying to Taiwan for the next few days I was just really tired and forgot to take pictures until DAY 16. The REST OF THIS PICTURES were ALL taken in TAIWAN. I tried to using natural lighting.

DAY 17, I definitely see a big change on how my skin looks. I now have a brightness to my skin, with a natural dewy, glowy kind of look. My skin feels and looks a LOT better.

Day 19, my skin looks so cleared out here that I remember when I took this picture I was in complete disbelief.

Day 24, look at that GLOWY SKIN!

DAY 30, my skin was basically ALL CLEARED OUT the WHOLE TIME I was in Taiwan. I rarely broke out, if I even did at all, during my time there. My skin looks bright and glowy. 

DAY 31, look at how un-bumpy my forehead looks!

DAY 40, LOL, please ignore the curl roller I have in my hair! Either way, as I've repeatedly stated, my skin looks and feels amazing! It now has a natural dewy, brightness to it. My skin has really cleared up and I rarely, if at all, broke out with acne during my time in Taiwan when I was using this serum.

DAY 45, this is about a week before I was leaving Taiwan. I'm almost finished with the serum.

DAY 53, this is the LAST DAY I used this vitamin C serum. This also happens to be the day before I left Taiwan to go back to the States. My skin looks amazing after using this serum for the past 53 days.

Overall, I absolutely LOVED this serum. It really is a difference experience from the COSRX Triple C Lightning Liquid. That's not to say that the other vitamin C serum isn't good. BOTH of these vitamin C serums are amazing, I think everyone should definitely try both out to see which they like better because it really is different.

When I started using this vitamin C serum, the first few days had a slight tingling/stinging feeling on my skin. Don't be alarmed, this is completely common when it comes to using vitamin C serums. After a few days, your skin gets used to the vitamin C concentration and you stop getting those tingling/stinging sensations.

This is a water-y textured serum, you need need to make sure that when you have it on your face, you quickly massage it in or it will just run down your face and drip onto whatever below surfaces you have. It provides good moisturization to my skin. I never feel dry or have tight-dry skin whenever I finish applying this serum. 

This additional layer of moisture is great for all skin types. It doesn't cause me to become oily or produce excessive oils, making this great for people with oily skin. It doesn't cause my skin to become irritated or cause extra inflammation or redness to my skin, making it great for anyone with sensitive, acne prone skin (this is probably due to the low 5% concentration of vitamin C in the serum). I think this makes this serum get for all skin types and for ALL seasons.

Literally this vitamin C serum is a super star! I noticed my acne and acne scars starting to fade within THREE DAYS! Within a week my skin was looking more bright and less dull and lacklustered. Also, within a week any fading spots I had on my skin and minor hyperpigmentation was also fading away, leaving behind dewy, bright, glowy skin.

I am seriously attributing to my great skin in Taiwan when I was traveling and going out literally everyday to this amazing serum! I would spend ALL DAY outside in the sun, going on different modes of transportation from walking, subway, bus, bike, and car, going to difference places all over the country. My skin was going through different areas of pollution, and since I am oily skinned, I was producing a lot of oil throughout the day while also sweating like no other because of the humid weather in Taiwan. 

What I'm trying to say is, my skin was in an environment completely different from what it's use to, which typically caused many people's skin to react badly and breakout. However, since I was using this vitamin C serum, I really feel like it was protecting my skin and helping to improve my skin condition.

I think one thing that I wish was DIFFERENT about this serum that I think Dear, Klairs can improve on is changing the packaging of the bottle of this serum. I wish them to change the bottle to become a dark bottle to help protect the vitamin C serum from oxidation and changing color. The whole time I was using this serum, I kept the bottle in the box it came in just to protect it from potential external light. I never did put it in a fridge, but it still worked great.

Again, I want to reiterate, I am NOT saying the vitamin C serum from COSRX isn't good, because that one is also a really great serum to use.

I completely see and understand why this serum has won so many awards and is a holy grail for many people. The price is also not terrible!

I LOVE THIS VITAMIN C SERUM!!!!! I will definitely be repurchasing this serum in the future after I have finished more of my other serums. It's not expensive (actually is cheaper than the COSRX Triple C Lightning Liquid) and you can even find it even cheaper when it's on sale or have a coupon. I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend everyone try this serum out! It truly is AMAZING!
