Review: TIA'M Blackhead Out Sheet

Hi Everyone!

I know it's been a while since I last wrote a review. Things have been really crazy busy ever since I started my clinical rotations for PA school. I just finished my Family Medicine rotation and now I'm busy studying for my EOR (end-of-rotation exam), so time is flying past me super quickly.

Recently, I applied for the Try Me; Review Me campaign from Stylekorean for the TIA'M products and I was chosen to review 5 skincare products. This first one is a nose sheet mask to help melt blackheads to make it easier to remove.

These are pore-caring sheet pads that gently soften and dissolve blackheads and sebum from your pores while helping to remove them without damaging your skin. The liquid soaking the sheets contain mild yet powerful exfoliators such as soapberry extract and BHA to soften the clogged pores for further blackhead removal. A bonus feature about these sheets are that they come with disposable cotton swabs with a sebum extractor on one side for hygienic usage to help extract those pesky blackheads once they've softened up.

The ease of use is a major factor when it comes to using these sheets. You need to leave them on for 10 minutes to let t he liquid in the sheet soak into your clogged pores to work their magic. 10 minutes really isn't too bad, especially if you do it at night after taking a shower (which is what I like to do). I usually just put it on and while I'm waiting, I apply lotion to my body.

Here's a look at the extra goodies given! They provide 20 swab-extractors and a charcoal soap. There are clippers to help pick up the sheets on the inside of the cap to keep things hygienic.
The Blackhead Out Soap is made out of charcoal to help exfoliate, deep clean and remove dead skin cells and sebaceous filaments.

Here's a close up of what the sheets look like. The material is nice and soft. It's thin but well soaked with the exfoliating liquid.
There's a total of 35 sheets. Each sheet has a 65 mm diameter. They are soaked in a clear,  fragrance-free liquid which contains BHA, soapberry extracts, and botanical extracts.

Some major blackhead skincare tips from TIA'M:
  1. Do NOT ever never squeeze blackheads with your hands!
    • Every time you squeeze one of them away you find dozens more to tackle. As satisfying as that squeeze may be in the moment, you could severely harm your skin barrier and skin by squeezing on it incorrectly. Especially your pores get enlarged with more sebaceous filaments. It's important to remember that blackheads can reform.
  2. NO pull off nose strips!
    • Using a nose strip never helps you to remove clear as you wanted. The skin may be damaged by physical irritation by using pull-off nose strips. It will irritate the pores afterwards, which cause blackheads to reform even more.
  3. Removing the deep blackheads incorrectly, it harshly irritates your pores and reforming blackheads more and faster. Improper way to remove very deep blackheads causes an emptied enlarged pore. The skin will think it's time to fill up the sebaceous filaments to enlarged pores. So they fill up more sebaceous filaments into the pores. As a result, the blackhead seems to reform more and faster.
Here's a close-up look at the swab-extractor and the charcoal soap.
For the swab-extractor, one side is like a regular Q-tip and the other side is like those metal sebum extractors but in this case it's plastic.
The charcoal soap is a small rectangular soap that actually creates a nice lather.

How To Use
  1. It's better to open the pores by wetting a towel with hot water to create a steam towel. Place the towel on your nose to open the pores.
  2. Tear open the slit to make 2 leaf-flaps.
  3. Put sheet on your nose to shape your nose. Remove the sheet after 10-15 minutes.
    • You can use the sheets on other parts of your face that have concerns of blackheads or whiteheads such as the chin and between the eyebrows.
  4. Gently rolling the melted blackheads and sebaceous filaments with the cotton swabs.
  5. Remove leftover melted blackheads and sebaceous filaments by an extractor gently.
  6. Once done, rinse off with lukewarm water.
How I Use It:
Like I mentioned at the top, I use these sheets at night after I've finished taking a shower. Since I take a hot shower the steam from my shower has helped to open my pores, making my skin all ready for the sheets once I get out.
I've only used these sheets on my nose since that's where majority of my blackheads are. I take 1 sheet and rip open the slit area, and place it on my nose to cover the whole area. I don't really understand why the need to open the slit since it creates a gap on the nose, but oh well.
I leave the sheet on for 10 minutes and during this time I'm applying lotion to my body. Once 10 minutes have pass, I remove the sheet and get 1 swab-extractor to roll the swab side on my nose first, then I use the extractor side to try to pull out any excess sebum.
Once finished, I rinse my face with warm water to remove any leftover residue from the sheets.

Below are pictures of my trying the sheet for the first time
1. This is how my nose and pores look fresh after taking a shower. You can see I definitely have some clogged pores at the top of my nose.
2. I've applied the sheet onto my nose. You can see that gap area that I mentioned above from having to split open that slit area. I really don't understand the purpose of that slit.
3. This is what my nose looks like once I remove the sheet. I haven't used the swab-extractor yet. I feel like there isn't much of a change. I don't see a difference in the size of my pores and a difference in the blackhead that's at the top.
4. This is what my nose looks like after using the swab-extract. It's a little hard to see here, but the tip of my nose is RED from the swab-extractor. NOTHING came off or out and instead it scarred/marked my skin.
Here's another Before/After picture.
The BEFORE is before I tried anything and haven't used the sheet yet.
The AFTER is after I've removed the sheet and used the swab-extractor. You can see what I mean when I say it scarred/marked my skin. I didn't even press hard onto my skin with the swab-extractor, but the plastic end of the extractor is really rough on the skin.

Here's how the swab-extractor looked after I used it on my nose. As you can see, there's NOTHING on it. I feel like the sheet didn't work and I definitely DON'T like the swab-extractor. It's really rough on the skin.

Here are the left and right side views of my nose.
1. This is the BEFORE image, I haven't used anything yet, having just gotten out of the shower.
2. This is the AFTER image, I have just removed the sheet from my nose and there's honestly ZERO difference in how my nose pores and blackheads look.
3. This is how my nose and pores looks after using the swab-extractor. Nothing came out and instead the skin on my nose felt really painful.

Overall, I did NOT like these Blackhead Out Sheets. They are completely useless to me and have no benefit whatsoever.

It didn't change the size of my pores, not tightening effect. It didn't help soften the blackheads to make them easier to remove and the swab-extractor was so painful and useless, nothing came out. The plastic end of the extractor was so rough on my skin that it scarred/marked the skin of my nose and I ended up having that red mark for 4 days. Thank goodness we're in an era where everyone is wearing face masks so I could cover it up in public and no one by my family members could see what my nose really looked like after the damage from the swab-extractor.

I really don't see a difference after using these sheets. I was so hopeful cause I suffer from blackheads and enlarged pores on my nose, but sadly nothing happened and no positive change was seen. I wouldn't recommend these sheets for anyone to use. I feel like it's a wasted investment and I feel like there's probably other products out there that are much more useless and see positive effects.

Rate (out of 5 stars): ⭐
I really hated these sheets and I wouldn't want anyone to end up with the disappointing results I got. Try a different product or use different exfoliators instead, cause this product isn't a good choice for blackhead removals.
