Review: ABOUT ME Skin Tone Up Massage Cream

Hi Everyone!

Today, I will be reviewing the ABOUT ME Skin Tone Up Massage Cream. I've had this cream in my arsenal for over a year before I actually started to use it. I started using it around last December 2018 and so far it's been great!

This massage cream is suppose to be unique because it doubles as a cleansing massage cream (AKA a skin cleanser) and gentle exfoliating cream. The cream emulsifies into a nourishing oil that can be massaged into your skin to effectively remove impurities, gently exfoliate, and moisturize skin for a firm, hydrated complexion. It effectively discharges toxins from the skin.
  • Made with botanical ingredients, it's suppose to soothe and purify the skin from any makeup, excess oil, and dead skin.
  • Lemon Peel Oil, Lemon and Moringa Extract are used to treat rough, dry skin and add a healthy brightening factor.
    • Lemon ingredients extracted from lemon pulp and peel clear and brighten skin.
    • Brightening Care: Citrus Lemon Peel & Lemon Extract
  • Royal Jelly and Pumpkin Extract delivers vital moisture and nutrients deeply into the skin.
    • Skin Luster: Royal Jelly Extract
  • Skin Calming: Amber Extract
Keeps skin youthful by strengthening the collagen in skin to prevent the development of wrinkles.

Here are some close-ups of what the cream looks like. It is dotted with little black dots, kind of reminds me of vanilla bean in desserts. I don't know what the black dots are... Maybe they're the exfoliating part? The cream is a whipped texture, white in color, and lightweight.

Size: 150 mL

Color: White cream with black dots all over

Fragrance: It has a strong artificial, sweet citrus smell. I personally do NOT like it. It just smells really fake and unpleasant. However, the smell does go away soon after applying all over your skin because it starts to emulsify.

Texture: Whipped cream, lightweight

Effects: Brightening, Purifying, Moisturizing

Absorbency: The moisturizing component of this cream really is moisturizing and does absorb well into your skin

Mechanism: You start off with a cream that you rub on your skin, as it sits, the cream starts to emulsify into an oil. You will feel oily

Packaging: Comes in a plastic tub with a very nice reflective cap.

Accessories: Comes with a plastic spatula

Contain: Does contain Mineral Oil and Alcohol!!!

Free From: Parabens, Artificial colors, Artificial Flavors

How To Use:
  1. After facial wash (or after skincare), apply a generous dollop on your face
  2. Massage in a spiral pattern for about 3 minutes
  3. Once the massage feel stiffer, the nutrients have been absorbed into your face. Wait for 10 seconds
  4. Waste seeps out of your skin with moisturizing oil
  5. Use a sponge or tissue to remove the bodily waste and non-viable skin cells and clean your face with water for the next skincare stage
How I Use It:
I only use this cream about 1-2 times a week at night after my shower, depending on how my skin feels. If I'm feeling particularly icky and my skin feels clogged, I like to use this cream to help detoxify my pores.
I do NOT use this cream as a cleanser, only as a detoxifying cream to rid my skin of any impurities, dirt, and dead skin.
I dot my skin with the cream and then gently massage it all over the place. I leave the cream on for about 5-10 minutes until it fully emulsifies into an oil.
Once the cream has turned into an oil, I take some tissues (or toilet paper) and wipe the oil off my face. You can literally SEE the gross-ness coming out of your pores when you skin something to wipe.
I like to WASH my face after using wiping off this cream, I don't like the oily feel I have afterwards.

Below are BEFORE/AFTER pictures of me trying out this cream.

My skin is definitely brighter and moisturized. It doesn't have that dull, lackluster look anymore.

This is how the cream looks when it's become emulsified. It becomes really oily, allowing it to seep into your pores to bring impurities to the surface.

1st & 2nd: BEFORE
3rd: DURING

AFTER
This is what it looks like after you wipe off the oil from your face. This time I used a piece of paper towel so it's more easy to see what was taken out from my skin. You can see it's like yellow-ish brown color, even though I had just showered and washed my face!

As you can see, when you first start out with the cream, it's still in cream form.
DURING
5-10 minutes later, the cream turns into an oil

Below are pictures of tissues I used to wipe the oil off my face. You will be able to see the impurities that were able to be taken out from my skin.

Overall, I do like this cream as a detoxifying mask cream. As I stated earlier, I do NOT use this cream as a cleanser. When I bought this cream, I watched a review for it on Youtube and the person reviewing it had tried to use it as a make-up remover cleanser and it didn't bode well.

I do not like the smell of this cream. It smells really fake. Like some sort of fake lemon, artificial smell.

It is really light weight and I think it's cool that the cream turns into an oil later on. I like that it is able to suck out impurities of my pores, really helping to clean my skin up. You can see from the pictures above, you can see what I wipe off my skin after using this cream and it's gross. Sometimes not much comes out meaning my skin was pretty clean. But sometimes, a LOT comes out. I especially like to use this cream over any pimples to help rid any of the dirt inside them to help the pimple heal faster.

It's also really nice that it is able to brighten your skin. My skin definitely has a glow to it after using this cream. The brightening factor isn't a big deal to me. I don't use this cream to brighten my skin, I use it to detoxify.

I feel like sometimes the instructions aren't really clear for how to use this cream. It doesn't tell you to wash your skin after wiping off the oil because I guess it's their way of saying your skin is moisturized after using so you don't need to wash anything off. However, I always wash my face after using this cream. When you wipe off the oil, sure your skin feels moisturized, but I still get an oily feel afterwards, especially since it also gets stuck in my eyebrows and my hairline. In the end, I find that I just feel better washing my skin after using this cream and then continuing on with the rest of my skincare routine.

Rate (out of 5 stars): ⭐⭐⭐⭐
I don't like the smell and I would never use this as a cleanser. I might buy this again, but I'm not 100% sure. I feel like there might be other masks or cleansers that I can use that are just as good, but don't need the hassle of doing something extra like using something to wipe off the oil.
