Review: Skinfood Black Sugar Perfect Scrub Foam

Black Sugar Perfect Scrub Foam

Hi Everyone!

Today, I will be reviewing one of my all time favorite skincare holy grails. This foaming scrub by Skinfood is AMAZING! I've used at least 5 bottles now and I always have a spare on hand. I typically buy it either from Amazon.com or Yesstyle.com.

This foaming scrub is part of Skinfood's Black Sugar skincare line. The Black Sugar Cleansing skin care line is an exfoliating and moistrizing cleansing line with organic black sugar that's enriched with vitamins and minerals to hydrate and nourish skin.

This gentle and effective scrub foam features black sugar granules, refined rice wine, and botanical oils. It works to remove dead skin cells and leaves a smooth, flawless complexion. The fine black sugar granules gently remove impurities, while creamy foam soothes any irritation for the perfect cleanse.

This cleansing scrub foam is a great way to exfoliate your skin in a gentle manner while also effectively cleaning out your pores.

How To Use:
Dispense a few pumps into wet palms, lather and rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water. Focus on areas with blackheads and flaky skin for better results.

How I Use It:
I use this once a day at night as the 2nd step of my cleansing routine. I leave it in my shower so that I can easily cleanse and wash it off quickly. I usually take about a nickel sized amount and scrub my whole face and neck with it. I gently massage it around, allowing it to foam up. I make sure to scrub problem areas a little longer such as places with acne, blackheads, or flaky skin. Once I think I'm thoroughly cleansed, I rinsed off with warm water.

Below, I am testing out how well this foaming scrub is able to remove makeup
1. Ciate London Starstruck Double-Ended Stamp Liquid Eyeliner
2. Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner
3. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer - Medium
4. Rimmel Lash Accelerator Mascara

Here's a close up of what the scrub looks like. You can see it is riddled with tiny granules of black sugar.

I spread the scrub around, but have NOT added any water yet.

I added water to the scrub and massaged it around to cleanse the makeup. You can still see the sugar granules which are lightly exfoliating my hand. It creates a white foam, it is NOT a dense foam.

After rinsing off with warm water, you can see that all the makeup is fully removed. The skin on my hand feels really smooth and soft. There's one noticeable red scratch mark on my hand, however, this is NOT from the scrub. It was from my mascara wand when I was doing a swatch of the mascara on my hand.

As I stated in the beginning of my review, this is one of my favorite all time holy grail skincare products. I absolutely LOVE this foaming scrub (so does my my sister who also has oily skin).

Since I have oily skin, I find that I need to gently exfoliate my face every day to fully remove all the oil and grime from my skin after a full day of whatever I'm doing. This cleansing scrub is gentle enough that it CAN BE USED EVERYDAY.
I know some people don't like to exfoliate a lot, but I find it really satisfying when I gently exfoliate my skin every night.
If you have dry skin and don't like to gently exfoliate your skin every day, then you can just use this scrub foam 2-3 times a week.

Realistically, I don't use this as a makeup remover. However, since I do use this as my 2nd step in my cleansing routine, I just thought that if it could remove makeup this well as a 1st step cleanser than as a 2nd step cleanser it would be perfectly fine at removing any residual makeup or grime I have on my skin, which it is!

Every time after I use this cleansing scrub, my face feel baby butt soft and smooth. I also find that since I just exfoliated, the rest of my skincare routine products are able to be absorbed much more quickly into my skin.

I honestly can't say enough great stuff about this scrub foam. I love it and I fully intend on buying it over and over again in the future.
