Review: Hairgenics Lavish Lash - Eyelash Growth Enhancer & Brow Serum

Hi Everyone!

A few months ago I decided to try out a eyelash enhancer just for fun. I initially was going to buy a different product that I saw was being advertised on Facebook, but then as I continued to research online, I saw this one from Hairgenics that has over 5,000 reviews on Amazon with a 4.4/5 star rating and decided to give it a shot. It's also considered an "Amazon's Choice", meaning it is a highly rated, well-priced product that is available to be shipped immediately.

To start off, my eyelashes are actually already quite long and full. I've never had a problem with my eyelashes, the only I would say is that I have straight eyelashes, they don't have a natural curl at all. I would say my lashes are about 1-cm long-ish, they aren't short, stubby eyelashes. However, I decided that if this serum could make my lashes healthier and maybe potentially even fuller than that would be a bonus!
I've never tried this serum on my eyebrows because I have naturally brush-y, dense, thick eyebrows and I don't want to add to it. But my sister has tried it on her eyebrows before, but she hasn't informed me of any changes.

Here are claims made by Hairgenics:
  • Our revolutionary botanical serum boosts the length and thickness of eyelashes and eyebrows. The result is longer, fuller and thicker eyelashes and brows! Imparts sheen and luster to lashes and brows making them appear lush and beautiful. No more false lashes needed!
  • Lavish Lash is proven by science. Experience drastic increases in length and thickness of your eyelashes and eyebrows in as little as 60 days! Contains proprietary botanically-derived compounds that penetrates hair follicles to stimulate lash and brow growth which in turn fortifies the eyelashes and brows to noticeably lengthen and thicken them.
  • Lavish Lash is made with only the highest quality ingredients. Everything in our serum is hypoallergenic, non-irritating, clinically tested, allergy tested & dermatologist tested. Never tested on animals and manufactured by FDA certified labs.
  • Easy to apply. Simply place a thin line along the base of your upper and lower lash line once a day at nighttime. Apply only at the root area of eyelashes and as though apply eyeliner and onto clean eyebrows.
  • Use for a minimum of at least 60 days as the eyelashes and brows are the slowest growing hairs on the human body. Your satisfaction is guaranteed or your money back!
This serum comes with a really thin, fine-tipped brush for accurate application. The brush is really soft and not stiff at all. It applies really lightly and and isn't rough on the lash line.

Size: 3 mL

Packaging: Small, white, plastic bottle.

Color: The serum is clear, no color.

Texture: Water-y consistency, not viscous at all.

Fragrance: I don't really smell anything when I'm applying this serum, however, it's such alittle amount that it's entirely possible that I'm just missing the smell because it's just such alittle amount and it's going onto my eyelashes and not near my nose.

Application: Using a brush.

Full Ingredient List:Purified water, Sodium Chloride, Benzalkonium Chloride, Citric Acid, Disodium Phosphate, Myristol Hexapeptide 16 and 17, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Panax Ginseng Extract, Swertia Japonica Extract, Phenoxyethenol, Caprylyl Glycol, Imadazolidinyl Urea, Potassium Sorbate, EDTA, Hyaluronic Acid, Biotin.

Here is a swatch of the serum on my hand. You can see that it applies as a thin line of serum, allowing for precise application onto the eyelashes. The serum comes out clear and no color.

How To Use:
Apply a think line along your upper and lower lash line once a day at nighttime. Apply only at the root area onto clean skin as though applying eyeliner. Do not apply more than once per day. May also be used on eyebrows.
***Caution: Avoid contact with eye. If contact occurs, flush with water. Discontinue use if redness or irritation occurs. If irritation is excessive, consult your physician immediately. Keep out of reach of children. If accidental ingestion occurs, contact a local poison control center immediately.***

How I Use It:
I only applied this serum at nighttime at the very end of my skincare routine. I also only applied this serum to my UPPER eyelashes only, not the lower lashes.

Here is how my lasts looked BEFORE I started using this serum. As you can see, my lashes were already relatively long and full.

***Truth be told, I STOPPED using the serum after 1 MONTH.***

Here is how my lasts look 6 MONTHS after the first picture or the first initial use of the serum. Keep in mind that I haven't been using the serum for a good 5 MONTHS.

Overall, I did NOT like this serum.
In the beginning everything seemed to be going fine, application of the serum was going well. I didn't have any weird allergy reactions, no puffiness of the eyes, no red eyes, no nothing. Everything seemed to be smooth sailing.
HOWEVER, within the first month of using this serum I noticed something WEIRD going on with my eyelash line/eyelid. I started to feel like the edge of my eyelid, at the area with my lash line was TWITCHING. Like actually MOVING. I am NOT delusional at all, I could even see it happening when I looked in the mirror. I even got my sister to look at my eye one day while we were shopping because I could feel it moving while walking around.
It was CRAZY. What's even weirder is that it was only happening with ONE eye, specifically my RIGHT eye.
This had never happened before in my life and it really freaked me out. What's weirder is that it was only happening to me. My sister, who was also using the serum with me, had nothing happen to her. At first I thought it was a specific bottle issue, so I started using her serum bottle instead, and STILL the eye twitching was occurring to me and NOT her. I looked up online and I couldn't see any reviewers saying anything about twitching for them.
In the end, I STOPPED using this serum at a month and what's worse is that it took OVER 1 MONTH for my eye to even stop twitching.
I always made use to wash my eyes really well in the morning, so I have no idea how this could've happened. I am now honestly too scared to ever try out anymore eyelash serums ever again.

Rate (out of 5 stars): ⭐
I would give them serum 1 star, even doing this seems too generous in my opinion. I would NOT recommend this eyelash serum for anyone to use. I wouldn't want what happened to me to happen to anyone else. Although it has a great rating on Amazon and even more Wal-Mart, I honestly believe this is a terrible serum.
