Review: Neogen Day-Light Protection Sunscreen SPF 50 PA+++
Hi Everyone! Today we will be going over SUNSCREEN!
Sunscreen is REALLY important and you should apply it everyday, even on days that look cloudy, rainy, or snowy.
Sunlight consists of UV rays, such as UVA and UVB.
UVA rays are present throughout the day and are the most important cause of premature aging of the skin. UVA rays are also responsible for photo-sensitivity and contribute to skin cancer.
UVB rays are the most intense, especially from the 10AM to 4PM; it's most responsible for sunburn and skin cancer development.
A general rule is that you should apply sunscreen approximately 30 minutes before going out into the sun, this way the sunscreen has had time to absorb into your skin and be less likely to wash off from sweat. You should also re-apply sunscreen throughout the day.
According to the FDA: "Scientific data demonstrated that products that are "Broad Spectrum SPF 15" [of higher] have been shown to reduce the risk of skin cancer and early skin aging when used with other sun protection measures, in addition to helping precent sunburn."
I like to use at least SPF 30 on my face and SPF 60-70 on my body. It's just my luck that this Neogen sunscreen is SPF 50, which is even better in my opinion!
If you noticed, this sunscreen has the "PA" rating system, this was developed in Japan to represent how much UVA protection the sunscreen offers.
PA+ = Some UVA protection
PA++ = Moderate UVA protection
PA+++ = High UVA protection ---> This sunscreen has a PA+++
PA++++ = Extremely High UVA protection

This is how my skin looked BEFORE I put on the skincare.
How to use:
I like to put sunscreen on AFTER I have finished the rest of my skincare routine in the morning. I know some people like to put sunscreen on first and then continue on, but I find that my skincare doesn't go on and absorb as well if I do that.
Squeeze a dime-size amount of sunscreen onto your hand. I personally like to just squeeze out little by little onto one my my faces and just dot my face with it. As you can see in the picture, I did squeeze out about a dime-sized amount of this sunscreen and it was actually TOO much for my skin. I highly recommend just squeeze little by little, as you go, to just get what you need instead of having too much on your skin.
Then I just massage the sunscreen into my face. I actually use a different sunscreen on my neck with a higher SPF.
I know I look ridiculous 😝 As you can see, from getting a dime-sized amount of the sunscreen, it is WAYYY too much for my face. I ended up blending it down to my neck because it was just too much for me.
AFTER I finished massaging the sunscreen into my skin.
NO WHITE CAST!!!
However, my skin does look kind of dewy and shiny. I can "feel" the sunscreen on my face, it's light-weight, but not really light-weight... does that make sense? It kind of has a "heavy-ish" feeling on my skin.
Reference point: I have OILY SKIN.
OVERALL:
While this is a good sunscreen, I wouldn't purchase it again. Due to my oily skin, this sunscreen is just a little too heavy for me. I know A LOT of people say this is a great sunscreen and that it is super light-weight, but I find that it isn't that light-weight at all. It is moisturizing, I'll give it that.
I also really like that there was no white cast at all! This is super important because I put sunscreen on as my very last step in my skincare routine and I wouldn't want to walk out of my house with a white cast all over it.
There is a fragrance to this sunscreen, kind of like a citrus-y smell. I do not smell any of the rose or raspberry extract at all. If you are sensitive to smells, this sunscreen is STRONG smelling, but it is there. However, the scent does go away after the sunscreen as absorbed into your skin.
At the end of the day, I felt SUPER OILY. My face was literally covered in oily, even on days that I didn't work out. This sunscreen is just WAY too dewy and moisturizing to the point that it is oily on my skin.
Great news is that this sunscreen did NOT break me out at all. Although it was an oily sunscreen, I did not develop any acne due to this sunscreen.
Best for what skin type: DRY SKIN. NOT FOR OILY SKIN.
Rate (out of 5 stars): ⭐⭐
This sunscreen is just too oily for me. I highly recommend this for anyone with DRY SKIN.Product Mentioned:
