Review: Rohto Mentholatum Acnes Medicated Anti-Bacteria Spot Dressing

Today, I'll be reviewing pimple patches that I bought while I was in Taiwan last Spring 2019. When I was in Taiwan, I decided to not bring any of my own pimple patches and buy some there instead. This brand is really popular. I remember there were other brands, but this one and Nexcare, were the most popular ones that you could find at literally every store.

These pimple patches are from a very popular Japanese skincare brand called Rohto Mentholatum. They are really well known in Asia, not so much in the Western world. They have many popular products such as their face cleansers and other acne skincare products.

The pimple patches are your typical hydrocolloid patches that are small and adhesive. They help speed up the drying and healing process of acne spots, absorbing sebum and pus inside the spots. They're waterproof and breathable patches that create a protective barrier and prevent further infection and inflammation. You can actually see the tiny little holes on the patches which make it breathable. You'll notice a change in color of the patch when it has absorbed any acne secretions (becoming more noticeably white), making it very obvious on your face.

Here are close-ups of a patch. You can see the tiny holes on the patch to make it breathable. These patches are also really thin, only being 0.02cm thick/thin.

How To Use:

Apply on cleansed and dry face. Select the patch you want for your spot, and press gently for adhesion. Replace patch when it turns white or every 12 hours. Do not apply patch with cream or ointment.

How I Use It:

I use these pimple patches anytime, morning or night. After I have washed my face and have NOT applied anything on my skin, I would pick a patch to place on any trouble area. I usually leave the patch on all day until the next time I would need to change it, usually either in the morning when I wake up or at night before bed. Once the patches are full, I just remove them and throw it away.

You can see there's a big change between the BEFORE/AFTER of using the pimple patch on my cheek. My pimple has gone down completely in size. You can see the pimple patch has turned white from all the impurities that was pulled out.

Here's a close-up of the pimple patch I used for the pimple on my cheek. You can see the BEFORE/AFTER of the pimple patch is completely different. You can see it pulled out a bunch of gunk and even a little bit of blood.

I had applied this pimple patch to an impossible pimple that was on the side of my nose-eyebrow-eye-socket area. It was hard to pop and it wasn't going away, so I decided to use a pimple patch on it. You can see there wasn't much of a change in the BEFORE/AFTER look of the pimple. However, when you see how much was pulled out from the pimple patch, it's amazing!

You can see how different the pimple patch looks after I had it on for a whole night. It completely changed to white because of all the gunk/impurities that was taken out.

Here's a side-by-side image of the pimple area that I used the pimple patch on. I know there isn't much of a change in size or look, but it pulled out so much impurities from the area, it help speed the healing process along.

Overall, I really loved these pimple patches!

They definitely thinner than the usual pimple patches I use (COSRX Pimple Master Patches). They're skin color, so it's not completely noticeable on the skin, so I'm okay with wearing them outside in public. Since they're thinner than the usual ones that I use, it's easy to forget that I even have one of these pimple patches on.

I find these from Mentholatum pimple patches to be very effective and do a great job at pulling out my impurities and speeding the healing process along.

Side Note: Since I bought mine from Taiwan, the links I have belong are the SAME brand of pimple patches, but they give a DIFFERENT AMOUNT of patches from what I had.

I love these pimple patches. I wish they were a little cheaper like the ones I buy in bulk from COSRX, but on the scale of pimple patches, they're on the affordable side. They're super effective and I really appreciate that the patches are so thin. I think these Japanese pimple patches are definitely worth a try!
