Review: Esfolio Egg Cleansing Foam

I know it's been quite a while since I've written a review. I've been really busy with graduate school and I'm finally on a short summer break before my summer semester starts in June.

I literally just took 13 exams within the span of 7 days. It's been a really crazy and stressful time.

But I'm back! 

Today, I'll be review a cleansing foam.

I found this cleansing foam one day when I was browsing around Marshall's. I've stated previously how I love to walk around Marshall's and look at the skincare area to see if there's any goodies that I'm interested in. This cleansing foam just happened to be there and the idea of "Egg" was interesting to me since I've never used any kind of skincare that was special for having egg inside.

Although, I will admit that in the beginning I was a little scared to use this Egg Cleansing Foam because I was worried about a potential allergic reaction. Not that I'm allergic to eggs in any way. I was just worried about the potential. I have no idea why I was worried but definitely during the beginning stages of using this cleanser, I would wash my face with it and then immediately check the mirror to see how my skin turned out - looking for any rashes or redness or any kind. 

Thankfully I didn't have any adverse reactions!

It's effective to strengthen skin resilience with the use of egg yolk extracts which are rich in lecithin and retinol that tightens and minimizes the appearance of pores. Texture: This cleansing foam has a thick, creamy texture and glides onto skin smoothly. Once mixed with water, it becomes a dense white foam.

Packaging: This comes in a rubber-plastic squeeze tube with a plastic flip cap.

Full Ingredients List: Water, palmitic acid, stearic acid, glycerin, myristic acid, lauric acid, potassium hydroxide, cocamidopropyl betaine, glyceryl stearate, PEG-100 stearate, sorbitan olivate, allantoin, egg yolk extract, butylene glycol, sodium laureth sulfate, disodium EDTA, methylparaben, propylparaben, CI 19140, fragrance

How To Use:

1. On a wet face, add some adequate amount onto your skin.
2. Make a foamy lather and gently massage it in a circular motion.
3. Rinse it off with lukewarm water.

How I Use It:

I used this as my nightly facial cleansing foam as my 2nd step cleanser when I'm taking a shower. 

Once I've finished with my 1st step, Oil Cleansing, I would take about a quarter-sized coin of this cleansing foam and dab it all over my face and neck. Then, I would gently massage the cleanser into my skin to create a dense white foam. 

Once I've felt that my skin is clean enough, I would rinse off my skin with warm water.

Below, I have tested this cleansing foam as a facial cleanser and a makeup remover

Here, I'm testing the Egg Cleansing Foam as a facial cleanser. This was after a day of being outside all day, so I've accumulated a bit of oil and impurities all over my skin.

As you can see, I've dabbed the cleanser all over my skin.

Once the cleanser is mixed with some water it creates a dense white foam.

As you can see, I've created a dense white foam all over my face after mixing the cleanser with water and massaging it all over my skin.

After rinsing my skin off with warm water, my face feels clean, a little tighten but at the same time slightly moisturized. 

LEFT: Here's a close-up of my right cheek. You can see before my skin had a shininess to it - that's oil... Although, after using the cleanser, you can see my skin looks clean and no longer has that shiny tone to it. In fact, it looks quite dull.

RIGHT: Here's a close-up of my forehead. Now here, you can REALLY see how oily my skin looks. I feel like you can actually see the greasiness of my forehead 😖 Although, after using the cleanser, look how clean my skin looks! No oiliness or greasiness whatsoever! 

Here, I'm going to test the Egg Cleansing Foam as a makeup remover.

On my hand is a variety of makeup that I typically wear and I want to see how well this cleansing foam is able to remove all the makeup in 1 try.

3. Belleme Let's Draw Smudge Gel Eyeliner - #3 Hot Choco
4. Lorac Front of the Line Pro Liquid Eyeliner

LEFT: I've added a big dollop of the cleanser onto my hand, typically I wouldn't use this much but I was being over-enthusiastic and squeezed too much out.

RIGHT: After mixing some water with the cleanser, it's created a white foam all over. You can see it's removed most of the makeup underneath the foam, although you're still able to see the Gel Eyeliner really clearly underneath.

Here's how my hand looks after using the Egg Cleansing Foam as a makeup remover.

It did a pretty good job! It was able to remove about 90% of the makeup, although you're still able to see a little bit of the Belleme Let's Draw Smudge Gel Eyeliner. However, this Gel Eyeliner IS waterproof, so this cleanser being able to remove majority of a waterproof eyeliner is impressive.

Besides the Gel Eyeliner, the cleanser was able to remove all of the liquid eyeliner, mascara, and eyeshadow.

Overall, this Egg Cleansing Foam is adequate but I'm not the biggest fan of it.

I find this cleansing foam to be good at cleaning my skin, clearing my pores, and being pretty great at removing makeup. However, I hate that it makes my skin have that "squeaky clean" feeling which I absolutely hate when it comes to my facial cleansers. Since it makes my face squeaky clean, after washing off the cleanser, my skin feels a weird mix of moisturized and tight all at the same time, basically making my feel like my skin has been stripped of everything.

The light citrus smell from this cleanser is pleasant and I don't find it overpowering or headache-inducing whatsoever.

I do like that it creates a dense foam, allowing the cleanser to go deep into my pores to really scrub out all the dirt, oils, and impurities that accumulate at the end of the day.

Surprisingly, this cleanser is good at removing makeup! I think it would be great as a 2nd step facial cleanser after oil cleansing if you have makeup on. If you don't have any makeup on, then this cleanser is great as a 1st step or only step cleanser.

Although this cleanser is advertised as being great for all skin types, I don't think people with dry skin will like it. If someone like me who has oily skin finds this cleanser to make my skin squeaky clean, I think someone with dry skin would feel even tighter and drier.

This is a pretty good cleanser. I just hate the squeaky clean feeling, but other than that it's a good cleanser. It cleans my skin well and it's great at removing makeup.

If you're interested in trying something new, give this egg cleansing foam a chance!
