Review: LORAC Front of the Line PRO Liquid Eyeliner

Hi Everyone!

Hope you've all had a great week so far! I've been relaxing and enjoying me short break before my summer semester starts. I've been binge watching so many movies it's ridiculous. If you have any suggestions please let me know!

It's been a while since I've done a makeup review, so I thought I'd review a liquid eyeliner. I know I tend to only just review eyeliners, but that's cause I don't really think I'd make good reviews of eyeshadows and I don't regularly use base makeups like foundation or blushes. However, I regularly use eyeliner and mascara which is why I basically only review eyeliners.

This eyeliner from LORAC is one that I bought from Ulta in-store, back when they were having one of those 21-Days of Beauty sales that had a theme of Makeup. It was a while ago though, like at least over a year ago when I bought it, so I don't even think Ulta sells this eyeliner in-store anymore. Although, they do still sell it on the online website, I'll provide the link below at the end of my blog like I usually do.

~~~Sorry that I didn't have my own picture of the eyeliner that I typically use at the beginning of all my reviews. I think I either never took a picture of the eyeliner itself or I might've taken it and deleted it by accident. The picture of the liquid pen eyeliner shown above was copied from Amazon.com~~~
From LORAC.com
This long-wearing, no-smudge, no-budge, water-resistant liquid liner boasts a unique automatic delivery system that provides a clean, precise application with its easy to use brush tip unlike other liquid liners that can be difficult and clumsy to apply.
  • The flexible brush tip provides ultimate control, accuracy and smooth strokes.
  • Easy and effortless for anyone to get a clean, precise line from very fine to dramatically bold.
  • Unique formula contains a special polymer that creates an extremely long-lasting effect.
  • Cruelty-Free
When it comes to eyeliner, it's really all about personal preference. One thing that drew me to this eyeliner was that it has a BRUSH tip. Some eyeliners have a felt tip which is typically harder and firmer. Some people may like felt tip liquid eyeliners, but for me it's something that I really hate. I find felt tip eyeliners to be to harsh on the delicate skin of my eyelids and I don't like to pulling sensation it gives when I'm using it to apply my makeup. Usually, whenever I buy eyeliner, I look for brush tip eyeliners. They're softer, apply easier, and are less harsh on the skin. I find that I'm able to do a perfect cat-eye/wing eyeliner better with a brush tip which is much more flexible than with a felt tip eyeliner.
So, that I'm initially looking for when buying an eyeliner; I'm looking to see what kind of tip it has - brush or felt. Afterwards, that's when the critiquing comes.
Full Ingredients ListWater, Ammonium Styrene / Acrylates Copolymer, Butylene Glycol, Alcohol, Beheneth-30, Phenoxyethanol, Acrylates/Octylacrylamide Copolymer, Methylparaben, Polyglyceryl-3 Disiloxane Dimethicone, Propylparaben, Sodium Hydroxide, Disodium EDTA, Black 2 (CI 77266)
How To Use:
Gently pull outer corner of lid to create a smooth surface. Hold applicator at a slight angle and apply close to the base of lashes using small, short strokes. Use a light touch for a fine line; use a firmer touch for a bolder, more dramatic line. Remove easily with oil makeup remover.
How I Use It:
I like to start off from the most inner corner of my eye (not my outer corner). I do small brush strokes as close to my lash line as possible and keep going until I get to the outer corner of my eye. Once at the outer corner of my eye, I make one upward stroke to create that cat-eye/wing like then I connect the tip of the upward stroke to the base line along my lashes and fill in the tiny triangle that's now the cat-eye/wing area. Then, I go back in and make the base lash line even, typically making it thicker as well. I repeat this process with my other eye.
I know from LORAC they instruct to pull the skin of the eyelid to make a "smooth surface," but I never do this because I don't like to pull the skin on my eyelids cause overtime the excessive pulling would create wrinkles.
If I make any mistakes, I take a Q-tip and make it wet, then I light use the wet Q-tip to wipe off the area that I want removed.
Below are different days that I used the eyeliner to test out it's durability
So.... yeah.... Sorry again for not taking a Before picture of when I first applied this eyeliner on. I think I was too focused on my eyeshadow to remember that I needed to take pictures of when I had first applied my eyeliner. It wasn't until nighttime when I was about to remove my makeup that I realized that I should probably take some pictures, haha.
Either way!!!!
As you can see, after having the eyeliner on for 8 hours, it didn't smudge, budge, or wear away whatsoever! I was really impressed. The cat-eye/wing part of my eyeliner is even still present and still nicely on point.
This was another day that I used the eyeliner and once again, I'm sorry that I forgot to take a Before shot of what the eyeliner looked like. I only have this After shot of when I was about to remove my eye makeup at night.
However, as you can see, even after 12 hours of  wear, this eyeliner is still nicely within it's limits. It's still nice black and dark, there's no smudging under my eyes or on my eyelids, and the wing part is still on point.
Finally! I remembered to take a Before shot of my eye makeup.
So this is how the LORAC eyeliner looks after I had just applied it.
LEFT: This group of pictures is after I had the eyeliner on for 4 hours. You can see it basically looks the same. The lines of the eyeliner look aren't smudged and nothing has transferred under or over my eyes.
RIGHT: This group of pictures is after I had the eyeliner on for 10 hours. It's late at night, my skin is oily. Yes - even my eyelids are oily and surprisingly, the eyeliner still stayed in place and didn't smudge anywhere.
Overall, I really loved using this eyeliner and I would definitely buy it again in the future.
True to LORAC's words, this eyeliner is "long-wearing, no-smudge, no-budge."
There have been multiple times that I have this eyeliner on for hours on end, more than 12 hours at times, and the eyeliner never changes. My makeup always stays the same with no smudging or fading.
I love that it doesn't smudge under my eyes or onto my eyelids. Even as someone with oily skin and having oily eyelids, this doesn't affect my makeup when I use this eyeliner.
I also love that the cat-eye/wing look that I always do with my eyeliner is always intact and I never have to worry about the wing fading. The wing is literally always on point and perfect throughout the day.
I think the only down side is this eyeliner is typically $23 as a regular price which for me as on the medium price range. When I bought this eyeliner, it was like $10 at Ulta because it was during their 21-Days of Beauty sale, so if you can, try to get it when it's on sale! There's just so many eyeliners out there that are also really cheap and affordable (many that I've already reviewed in the past so go check those out too!) that $23 to me a cutting it a little close for me to want to buy at regular price.
I know there are other eyeliners out there that are much more expensive, so if this isn't out of your price range or if you're fine with paying the regular price of $23, then I highly recommend this eyeliner!
Rate (out of 5 stars): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I love this eyeliner and I highly recommend everyone give it a try! If you're okay with the $23 regular price then I think it's definitely worth getting now. If you don't want to pay the $23 and want to wait for a cheaper price, you can be like me and wait to see when Ulta will have it on sale again.
This truly is a great eyeliner. It doesn't smudge, it's long-lasting, and looks great!
