Review: Neogen Canadian Clay Pore Cleanser + Pore Cleansing Brush Set

Hi Everyone!

Today, I will be talking about a product that I've seen around for a while, but I've never tried until I was given the chance.
I received this product for free from Stylekorean as part of their Try Me; Review Me campaign for their favorite Neogen products

I've seen this clay cleanser around for a long time. I actually almost bought it a few months ago when I was browsing around Marshall's, but I ended up not buying it since I was buying other stuff instead.

Made with micro-particles of natural glacial marine soil, colloidal clay from West Coast British Columbia, Canada, and carbonated water ingredients. This blend of carbonated water, kaolin clay and centella asiatica extract creates an intensive pore mask that instantly absorbs and cleanses away trapped dead skin cells, excess sebum, wastes, blackheads, and even makeup inside pores without any irritation or pain. It also minimizes enlarged pores, lifts up sagging skin, and evens out skin texture leaving skin clean, refreshed, and vitalized.

It comes with a "Magic Pore Brush" that provides gentle but effective cleansing with no irritation.
The cleansing brush is made of approximately 250,000 fine, soft, silky-smooth bristles to provide a gentle skin cleansing experience with multiplied cleansing results and no irritation. This cleansing brush can be used along with other Neogen cleansing products.

Things It Does:
  1. Helps minimize pores
  2. Helps remove blackheads
  3. Helps facial lifting
  4. Helps reduce number of sebum
  5. Helps reduce amount of oil
  6. Helps decrease skin
The cleanser comes with a clear plastic lid that goes inside the tub once you open it.
Make sure to place the plastic lid on to cover and prevent air from entering the clay to ensure the cleanser will foam every time.
Also, when you first open the cleanser, the tub is seal SUPER TIGHT with this aluminum seal. I was super for me to take off this seal.
At first, when I saw the inside of the tub, I thought mold was growing. But then I realized it was a cotton pad that was on top of the clay cleanser. The cotton pad (I think) is to keep moisture out so that the clay doesn't start to foam.
Here's a close-up of the clay cleanser. It's thick and creamy, has a light grey-mint green color.

Size: 120 g / 4.2 oz.

Color: It has a light grey-mint green color

Fragrance: It has a light clay smell with a slight peppermint-ness to it, it's really not that bad

Texture: It had a really creamy and smooth texture. It glides onto the skin and spreads really easily

Packaging: Comes in a plastic white tub

Accessories: Comes with a soft Pore Cleansing Brush and a clear inner plastic lid to put over the clay cleanser so that the clay doesn't start to oxidize.

How To Use:
On dry skin, evenly apply about 1mm thick layer of the cleanser and let it rest on your face for about 5 minutes to allow the carbonated capsules to fully activate.
Once you have allowed the carbonated capsules to fully activate for 5 minutes, lightly dampen the Magic Pore Brush and use it to gently massage and cleanse your face. The moisture from the Magic Pore Brush will interact with the clay cleanser on your face to refreshingly transform into a nice lathering cleansing foam for a luxurious foam cleansing finish. Then, rinse off the product completely with lukewarm water.

How I Use It:
I use this clay cleanser about 2 times a week, only a night after I have finished taking a shower. I actually thought it was a face mask, but it's a CLEANSER!
I applied a relatively medium layer on my face and left it on for 5 minutes. During this 5 minutes, the clay cleanser that contains carbonated capsules will start to activate and foam up. Once 5 minutes have passed, I would either use the Pore Cleansing Brush (make it wet) or just wet my fingers and gently massage it around. Once I'm done massaging it around, I would rinse it off with warm water.

Below, I am testing out the Clay Cleanser
Top to Bottom: From Before to when I just applied the cleanser to 5 minutes after the cleanser has been foaming away to me massage the cleanser around with the cleansing brush and finally washing off the mask with warm water.
When washing off, the cleanser causes my skin to be squeaky clean which I really hate. However, my skin does feel really clean and my pores do feel and look clearer. I don't notice any changes to my pores besides the fact that they're clean. They haven't been minimized at all. I hate that my skin feels tight and dry afterwards.
Top to Bottom: If you look at the Before picture, you can see I had a whitehead on my right cheek. If you look at the After picture, that whitehead has disappeared after using the clay cleanser! The pores near my nose, on my cheeks, haven't been minimized. I feel like the pimples have also reduced in redness, is it just me?
Here's a close-up of my left cheek. There aren't any changes to the pores on my skin and my skin feels tight and dry.
Here's a close-up of my forehead from using the clay cleanser. Really there isn't much change besides my skin feeling cleaner and tighter.
Here's a close-up of my nose. I know it's weird, but I wanted to see how well it minimized the pores on my nose. Sad to say it really didn't do much.

Overall, it's a great at cleaning my face, but I HATE that it makes my skin squeaky clean, like my skin was literally squeaking when I was rinsing off the cleanser. I effective in cleaning out my pores and even helped to remove a whitehead I had on my cheek, but it made my skin feel dry and tight.

The first thing I thought of when I realized this was a foaming cleanser, Elizavecca Carbonated Bubble Clay Mask. It reminds me so much of this Clay Mask, results are also pretty much the same, the only difference is one is a cleanser and the other is a face mask.

I think it's really cool that it contains those carbonated capsules which is what's causing the foaming of the cleanser. It's fine to press down on the foam with my fingers. I actually like to press down the foam with my fingers and then I would go in and either use the Pore Brush or just my hands (if I'm being lazy) to massage it around. My face and pores have never felt cleaner, but they've also never felt drier and tighter. I really hate when my cleanser cause me to have that squeaky clean feeling, it's not good for you skin.

If this cleanser is already so drying for me as someone who has oily skin, then someone who dry skin or even normal skin types should definitely steer clear of this cleanser. It's just too drying.

Rate (out of 5 stars): ⭐⭐⭐
While it's a great cleanser at cleaning my skin, I just can't get over that squeaky, dry, tight feeling that this cleanser makes my skin feel. I think only people who oily skin can really handle this cleanser, I would definitely NOT recommend it for anyone who has dry skin.
