Review: Neogen Real Ferment Micro Essence

Today, I will be reviewing the second to last product I received from Stylekorean as part of their Try Me; Review Me campaign of their favorite Neogen skincare products.

I received these products for free in return for my honest opinion.

I remember when Neogen came out with this essence about a year or so ago. It was such a big deal. Everyone was buying it, giving it rave reviews. I remember so many reviewers going on and on about how it's great for that "Glass Skin" look. However, I have oily skin and the idea of "Glass Skin" look is the farthest thing I would ever want. I'm naturally oily, I can get that "Glass Skin" look naturally without the help of an essence (gross I know).

This is a hydrating essence that's formulated with more than 93% of micro bio fermented complex including Bifida ferment lysate, 28% Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate, 17% Betula Alba Juice (Birch juice for hydration), 9% Rice Ferment Filtrate (illuminate skin from within) and Aspergillis ferment, which instantly delivers benefits of moisturizing, brightening, skin-plumping to skin.

📃Bifida ferment lysate - Increases elasticity, skin tone and intensely hydrates skin.

📃Saccharomyces Ferment Filtrate - Increases elasticity and hydrates skin.

📃Betula Alba Juice (Birch Juice) - 17% birch juice used in this essence, will intensely hydrate skin.

📃Rice Ferment Filtrate - 9% rice extract is in this essence, it's an antioxidant that brightens and hydrates skin.

How To Use:

Use this essence daily in the morning and evening after cleansing and toning. Sprinkle the essence into palms of hands or use a cotton pad to gently sweep across the face and neck, lightly patting your skin until the essence is fully absorbed.

How I Use It:

Since this is a First Treatment Essence (FTE), it goes on as the base layer of your skincare routine. I use it both in the morning and night after I've finished cleansing my skin and applying toner. I don't use a cotton pad, I like to just pour some of the essence into the palm of my hand and lightly pat it into my skin. I gently and lightly pat the essence onto my face and neck, allowing it to quickly absorb. Usually, I like to do TWO layers of this essence. It's so lightweight that it doesn't feel heavy at all which is why I like doing two layers.

This is the Before/After pictures of the beginning of when I started using the essence. It's lightly hydrating and provides minor brightness.

Here's a look at both of my cheeks for Before/After looks. It's lightly hydrating and there's a minor brightness to my skin.

There really isn't much of a change to see here besides the fact that it's lightly hydrating.

1 week of use

After a week of use, my skin has an added brightness to it. It had a less dull look and a natural glow to it. My skin feels and looksore awake after using this essence.

After a week of use, the essence helped make my skin look less dull. There's this brightness to my skin, making me have this natural glow. Again, it's lightly hydrating and I love to do 2 layers of the essence on and it doesn't feel heavy at all.

2 weeks of use

After 2 weeks of using this essence, my skin looks so much brighter and healthier. I know i have pimples on my face, but it's not from using this essence (I've been stressed out this past week).

My skin looks so bright and lively after 2 weeks of using this essence. I feel like the skin tone looks healthier. I know there are pimples on my skin, but it's not due to this essence.

It's lightly hydrating and I love that I can use multiple layers and it doesn't make me feel clogged.

Overall, I really do like this essence. I think it's one of the nicest and best essences that I've tried in a while.

It's super lightweight. I love that I can layer it on so many times and it doesn't make me feel heavy, clogged, sticky, tacky, or oily. I usually only do two layers of this essence, morning and night, but there are a few occasions where I've physically exfoliated my skin and I would do three layers of this essence, and it's still feels so lightweight!

In addition to being lightweight, it absorbs really quickly into my skin. Literally I would just lightly apply it all over my face and within a couple seconds, it's fully absorbed in! This is great especially since I do like to double layer the essence on.

It's a lightly hydrating/moisturizing essence. It's definitely not the heavy-duty essence that I thought it would be since it's ingredients are all meant to be so hydrating. However, I love that it's only lightly hydrating, in doing so, I'm able to layer the essence on with no problem. Since I have oily skin, having an essence that's lightly moisturizing is great and I can customize it by doing extra layers if needed. Now that it's summer, I'm definitely staying away from more heavily moisturizing products, trying to stick with more lightweight skincare products.

In the past two weeks of using this essence, I can tell my skin has become brighter and looks like to a natural glow to it due to the use of this essence. It really does brighten my skin, giving me that healthy glow. My skin always feels and looks more awake whenever I have this essence on.

I also like that it doesn't cause me to break out and is really gentle on my skin. While I don't have sensitive skin, I'm always cautious and would rather be safe than sorry.

I think this is a great essence. It's super lightweight and provides a layer of light hydration to the skin that isn't heavy at all. I do notice a brightness to my skin whenever I use this essence. It's great for all skin types and can be used year round. I would recommend this essence for everyone to try!
