Review: Fresh Soy Face Cleanser

Today's topic will be the fresh Soy Face Cleanser. I received this as a birthday gift from Sephora about a year ago I think, I honestly don't remember how long it's been. It came along with a Caudalie moisturizer that I really liked.

According to Sephora and fresh, this cleanser is a bestselling, do-it-all cleanser for all skin types that's tough on makeup but gentle on the skin.

It is a gel cleanser, said to be able to remove everyday dirt and makeup without drying the skin. They make a point to say that it can even remove mascara. However, in my opinion, most cleansers are able to remove mascara, what's harder is usually the eyeliner for me.
Made with amino acid-rich soy proteins, soothing cucumber extract, and balancing rosewater. It tones, soothes, and softens for a radiant, healthy-looking complexion.

Key Ingredients:
Amino Acid-rich Soy Proteins: help to support naturally healthy skin and maintain elasticity.
Rosewater: Soothes, hydrates, and balances skin.
Cucumber Extract: calming and soothing the skin.
Borage Seed Oil: Provides lightweight moisture and nourishment to skin.

fresh had some research results from this cleanser. I'm assuming they had a number of people testing out this cleanser for an extended about of time to see the changes in their skin over time.
Research results:
In an in-vivo test ("within the living"):
  • 97% reported more supple skin
  • 93% said it soothed and softened their skin
  • 90% said their skin was balanced and healthy-looking
  • 86% felt it visibly improved the appearance of the skin
  • 86% felt it left their skin toned and radiant

Colors: Clear, no colors or dyes added.

Fragrance: Light cucumber smell. Honestly, I wasn't a major fan of the smell but that's because I don't like the smell of cucumbers.

Texture: Gel, thick consistency.

How To Use: wet skin, massage over face and eyes, and rinse.

How I Use It: I only used this cleanser in the morning to wash off the skincare and oils that I have on overnight.
I would wet my face and take about a pea-sized amount of cleanser onto my fingertip and gently massage it around my face, then I would wash it off with warm water.

I am going to be testing how well this cleanser is at washing off makeup, both non-waterproof and waterproof makeup.

Here is a swatch of the cleanser with the makeup I will be washing off. As you can see, the cleanser is gel-like, thick, and clear.

It doesn't really foam much, if it does it's kind of like a dense foam that doesn't really bubble much. You can see a faint line of the 2 eyeliners I was testing.

After washing off the cleanser with warm water, the rest of the makeup came right off.

Overall, this was a good cleanser! It washed off all the makeup on my hand really well and left my skin feeling moisturized and not dried out or tight. There wasn't even a faint line or anything on my skin from the makeup, meaning this cleanser really is effective in removing makeup and probably also everyday dirt.
As a face cleanser, it did well to clean my skin. My face felt clean and not stuffy after using it in the morning. My face also didn't feel dry or stretched out after using this cleanser in the morning.
As stated previously, this is a light cucumber smell to this cleanser. I've read that many people really like this smell, but personally I am NOT a fan of cucumbers. I don't like to eat them and I especially don't like the smell. I actually get headaches from the smell of cucumbers, which I know is weird, but it happens. Although I don't like the smell, I still find that this is a really effective cleanser.

Price-wise, this cleanser is actually kind of expensive for my liking.
On Sephora and fresh, the price for the standard/full size bottle is $38. This is quite a lot of money in my opinion for a facial cleanser. I've tried many other cleanser that give the same amount of product (or even more!) and are way cheaper.
The mini size is $15.

I would recommend this cleanser for everyone to try. I don't have any skin reactions from it and it didn't break me out. I find that I like how gentle it is and that it leaves my skin feeling clean and not dried out. Even though I'm not a fan of the smell, it doesn't take away the ability of how this cleanser works, so I don't feel the need to remove any stars. Also, I see that most people do like the smell or aren't even bothered by it.

Hi Everyone! I will be discussing a very popular toner by COSRX. This is the AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner .
