Review: Beauty of Joseon Silky Moist Cleansing Foam

Hi Everyone!

Today I will be reviewing this new cleansing foam by Beauty of Joseon. I have previously reviewed their Dynasty Cream and Sleeping Mask, both of which I really liked, so I was really excited to try this cleansing foam out!
I received this cleanser from Blingdear, who are doing a collaboration with Beauty of Joseon, for free to provide an honest review of what I think about this product. I have been testing out this cleanser for the past 2 weeks, using it both morning and night. I have tested it out with both makeup on my hands and skincare on my face to see how well it cleans.
I hope you enjoy this review!

This is a "superfine" foam cleanser. I don't really know what that means, but I'm assume it creates a really dense, thick foam which is intended to be able to go into you pores and really clean them out.

On the Blingdear website, they say that:
"This cleanser creates soft and rich foam which acts as a 'cushion' to protect the skin from harsh cleansing motion. Meanwhile, it penetrates into the pores to clean impurities and excess sebum. Skin becomes clean, soft and hydrated. For all skin types."

~~~Side note: I have seen on a website that they would recommend this cleanser for oily skin and people who suffer from acne. However, Beauty of Joseon markets this cleanser as being for ALL skin types.~~~
***** If you didn't know already, I have OILY skin*****
This is a moisture cleanser with rich and elastic silk essence micro-bubble foam containing extracts from cocoons, mulberries, and mulberry roots to softly wash off makeup and impurities and to keep skin silky smooth.
Silk Sericin is gentle to the skin that helps boost moisture while banishing the appearance of aging.
Mulberry Extract with rich vitamins to revive and purify the skin for an overall radiant skin.
Size: 120 mL / 4.05 oz.
Texture: Thick to the touch, creates a dense foam. When I say "dense foam", I don't mean that it create a lot of foam, instead, it creates a thin layer of foam, but the foam is dense feeling, like thick... I don't know if that really makes sense, but it'll make more sense in the pictures below.
Color: White, kind of has a shiny, pearlescent look.
Fragrance: There is a scent! BE WARNED! The fragrance is STRONG. It's kind of perfume-y/baby-powdery/floral, reminds me what an older generation elder lady would use as her perfume. I don't mind the scent at all, I actually kind of like it. However, the smell is strong and it stays on your hands ALL DAY LONG. Even after I have washed my hands multiple times throughout the day, I can still smell this cleanser on the back of my hands all day long. So if you are sensitive to smells, please keep this in mind.
Packaging: Plastic tubing. The tube is flexible, it's weird but it feels kind of like a soft plastic-rubber, more malleable then the usual cleanser bottling.
Full Ingredients List: Water, Myristic Acid, Glycerin, Sorbitol, Potassium Hydroxide, Stearic Acid, Lauric Acid, Beeswax, Glyceryl Stearate, Coco-Betaine, Hydrogenated Polydecene, Sericin, Silkworm extract, Morus Alba Fruit Extract, Morus Alba Bark Extract, Ficus Carica(Fig) Fruit Extract, Ginkgo Biloba Nut Extract, Punica Granatum Fruit Extract, Butylene Glycol, Polyquaternium-7, Caprylyl Glycol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Sodium Benzoate, Disodium EDTA, Sodium Chloride, Ethylhexylglycerin, Fragrance
How To Use:
Take a pea-sized amount of cleansing foam and lather it up by adding some water. Massage gently onto skin and rinse.
How I Use It:
In the beginning, I only used this cleanser in the morning to wash off the skincare products I had on my skin from the previous night. I would get about a nickle-sized amount onto my fingertips, wet my face with water, dot my face with the cleanser and gently start to massage it around. Once I have massaged the cleanser around enough, I wash it off with warm water.
✨✨✨Below are pictures of me trying to see how well this cleanser is for washing off makeup and skincare products.✨✨✨
For the makeup trials, I did it TWICE because the first time wasn't great... So I decided to try it again another time to see if the results were still the same.
                                    Trial 1                                                              Trial 2
1. Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eyeliner
2. Secret Key Skinny Real Quick Eyeliner
3. Estee Lauder The Estee Edit Up and Out Double Mascara Edgiest of Black
4. Maybelline New York Fit Me! Concealer - Medium
Here is a swatch of the cleanser. As you can see, it is white and there is a shine to it, kind of pearl-y. It is thick in texture, doesn't really move around.
Here is how the cleanser foams up when wet. As you can see, it doesn't really create a thick foam, more of a dense, thin layer. Not much bubbling at all. You can still see makeup under the foam.
Here how my hand looks after fully washing off the cleanser. As you can see, there is still makeup on my hand.
Next, these pictures are from when I used this cleanser to wash my face in the morning, washing off the skincare products that were sitting on my skin overnight along with any face oils that I accumulated.
Here is a swatch of the cleanser that I will be using on my face.
BEFORE
This is how my skin looks before I washed it. You can see my forehead and cheeks are shiny with oil and product.
AFTER
Here is how my skin looks after I have washed it with the cleanser. My skin forehead and cheeks are no longer shiny. However, there is some skin dryness, you can see it on my cheek.
Overall, I did NOT like this cleanser.
Although I do like the smell, I don't think it cleans well at all. My skin does feel moisturized after using this cleanser but I don't know if it's because of this cleanser or because it didn't fully wash off my skincare products. I think it's actually a little bit of both. I kind of feel like the moisturized feeling I have on my skin is really just because not everything was washed off. Maybe just the surface layer, which is why you can see some cleansing was done. Moisturization wise, you can see that it isn't drying on the skin at all, my skin doesn't feel tight or dried out. However, you can see a little bit of skin flaking on the surface of my cheek from a pimple area that is "dying out."
I also really hate the feel of the cleanser when I'm washing it off with water. It's this weird feeling of rubber-y-ness and squeeky clean, but you don't feel squeek clean at all once you dry you skin. I hate the rubbery water feel, it's like this weird resistance feeling. I really REALLY annoys me. When I'm trying to use the water to wash it off, it's like I'm hit with a resistance and my hand has a hard time rubbing off the cleanser, like rubber against water. Once washed off, with water still on face, it almost feels like "oh wow, it's so clean, it's squeeky clean," but in truth it feels kind of gross. Once I pat my skin dry, my skin does feel moisturized but it had a heavy feel to it, like I have a thick layer of lotion on it but not oils to show for it.
Scent wise, even now, it's about 12:30 PM my time and I washed my face at 8 AM and my hands still smell like the cleanser.
Later on, I had just finished using my nightly cleansing oil, so I decided to try using this cleanser at night as well to wash off the daily grime in the shower. Again, it doesn't feel like it cleans really well and I always have to use another cleanser in the shower to feel fully clean.
Makeup wise, this cleanser doesn't wash off makeup. I'm not entirely sure why Beauty of Joseon says it can wash off makeup because in actuality it doesn't....
If you look at Trial 1 of the makeup washing you can see that at the end, you can still see ALL 4 makeup products that I used still on my hand after trying to wash it off with the cleanser. At first I thought it was because I wasn't rubbing hard enough or not trying hard enough with the cleanser to wash it off, so I decided to do a second trial on another day.
Trial 2 of the makeup washing, I rubbed a lot harder this time, I mean I tried really hard this time to try and wash off the makeup with this cleanser. This is completely unrealistic because realistically I would NEVER rub this hard to wash makeup off my face. I don't ever use full force to wash makeup off my face. I believe that a cleanser should be able to wash off your makeup and skincare with minimal effort.
Again, in Trial 2, after rubbing really hard to try and clean off the makeup, you can still see some of the liquid eyeliner (Secret Key) and the liquid concealer (Maybelline). It took a LOT of rubbing to remotely get the pencil eyeliner (Stila) and mascara (Estee Lauder) off.
Rate (out of 5 stars): ⭐⭐
I wouldn't recommend this cleanser to anyone at all and I definitely wouldn't repurchase it at all. I don't like it and I wouldn't want other people to try something that isn't worth it. It doesn't wash makeup off well and my skin doesn't feel clean afterwards. The only redeeming quality about this cleanser is the scent and the amount given. I like that it gives a lot of product and if you look around you can find this cleanser for a reasonable price (Amazon sells it for $15), but I wouldn't buy it.
