Review: LANCÔME Advanced Génifique Hydrogel Melting Mask

Hi Eveyone!

Today, I will reviewing a sheet mask that I received as a birthday gift from Ulta. I know it might be a little weird to review only 1 sheet mask that I was given as a gift, but I really do feel like even though I was only given one, I had a great experience with it and I'd like to share it with you guys.

This sheet mask is from Lancôme, a luxury beauty brand that has a range of skincare and makeup products.

Back in the day, my mom used to use Lancôme skincare products all the time and I used to love to just open a jar of her face cream and sniff it. They're skincare always spent so GOOD!

This isn't your typical sheet mask in that it's not the typical cotton material, instead it's a hydrogel sheet mask. This hydrogel sheet mask gives skin instant radiance, smoothness, and plumpness in as little as ten minutes.
It's suppose to feel like the mask is "melting" onto your skin for a flexible, cocooned feel.

The mask is drenched in Lancôme's cult-favorite serum, the Advanced Génifique serum's Bifidus extract, to help strengthen and protect the skin's moisture barrier. Each mask contains the SAME amount of Bifidus extract found in one FULL 30 mL bottle of Advanced Génifique serum.

By leaving the mask on for only 10 minutes, your skin is suppose to be left feeling hydrated, and fresher. Skin will look more radiant, fine lines, and pores appear visibly reduced, skin texture appears refined, and skin looks rested for a younger-looking appearance. Supposedly, the mask will NOT leave your skin feeling sticky or shiny.

Star Ingredients:
🌟Bifidus: Helps to strengthen and protect skin's moisture barrier
🌟Glycerin: Seals moisture into skin

Lancôme had some research/testing doing on this sheet mask over a period of 3-weeks with 54 women. Results were:
  • After 10 minutes:
    • 96% said skin seems hydrated
    • 89% said skin feels smoother
    • 80% said pores appear less visible
    • 83% said skin appeared more radiant
Great for ALL skin types!

Here's a closeup of the mask when I had just removed it from it's packet. It's clearly drenched in the serum, literally it was dripping down my arm and hands.
You can see it's a rather thick mask that is gel-like and not clear at all. It's like an opaque white color. It is clearly flexible, even on my hands. You can see my fingers through it, but not like the way you'd usually see with a typical cotton sheet mask.
I'm trying to show the thickness of the sheet mask (I'm not sure how well you'll think I achieved though...). It's definitely more than 1 mm thick, which is considered thick is the world of sheet masks. It's even had some weight to it, which again, is odd in the world of sheet masks.

Size: 1 sheet mask

Color: Opaque white

Fragrance: It's hard to describe the smell. I feel like the only description I can give is it smells like expensive. Like it has that luxury skincare smell, making you know that it's expensive.

Texture: It's a hydrogel mask. It's really weird because it's thick and heavy and it's really flexible hard gel-like mask. Like a really thick flimsy flubber.

Absorbance: The serum absorbs quickly into the skin. When I took the mask off, it didn't feel like I had serum dripping off my face.

How To Use:
  1. Unfold the mask
  2. Remove the transparent film and apply onto face, gel side down
  3. Remove the white sheet on the other side, leaving only the hydrogel sheet mask, and leave for 10 minutes
  4. Remove the mask and gently massage excess product into skin. Discard mask
  5. For a more intense glow, leave mask on for up to 30 minutes

How I Use It:
I used this mask at night at the very end of my skincare routine.
Once I removed the transparent and white sheet, I applied the mask onto my face and left it on for 30 minutes. I want to see more intense results to see how well the mask really works.
At the end of 30 minutes, I removed the mask and squeezed out the excess serum from the mask packet and massage it onto my face and neck.

Left to Right: BEFORE, DURING, & AFTER
I do see a definite glow/radiance to my skin after using this sheet mask. My skin feel deeply hydrated and really plump.
Left to Right: BEFORE & AFTER
I don't notice a change in the size of my pores or a smoothness of my skin, but I do see radiance and hydration.
Left to Right: BEFORE & AFTER
I definitely do NOT see a smoothness in my skin after using this sheet mask. There's again, no change in my pore size. There is a plumpness to my skin that you might not be able to see, but I can definitely feel it.

Overall, I really do like this sheet mask! I feel a major difference in my skin.

This sheet mask is definitely something that I would consider more on the luxurious side. It's quite expensive, $15/mask, which is something that makes me really reluctant to buy with my frugal-ness. However, I will admit, it really does do almost everything it says it'll do.

I can see a brightness/radiance to my skin after having left the sheet mask on for 30 minutes. At the same time, my skin felt super hydrated and plump. You know that feeling when your skin is really hydrated and plump that you sort of feel like your cheeks have expanded? That's how my face felt after using this sheet mask.

I'm said to say I didn't see any sort of smoothness going on from using this sheet mask, but I don't think that's a deal breaker. I also didn't see a change in the size of my pores, which is something they advertised, but I think they should just take off, because it doesn't really do that.

The hydrogel material of the sheet mask was interesting. This was the first time I'd ever tried a sheet mask that wasn't made of cotton. It's got a heavy weight to it that almost makes you think it'll slip right off your face when you put it on, but surprisingly it doesn't! But I usually lay flat on my back whenever I have a sheet mask on, but whenever I walked around, it never slipped.

Rate (out of 5 stars): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a great sheet mask and if it wasn't so expensive, I would definitely buy it myself and keep using it. It would especially use it for special occasions to that radiant and plump look. If you aren't worried or don't care about the price $15/mask, then definitely give this sheet mask a try!
