Review: Huxley Secret of Sahara Cleansing Gel

Hi Everyone!
Today, I will be reviewing another face cleanser.

I bought this face cleanser Huxley as a cleansing duo from Costco.com. Along with this cleansing gel came the Huxley Secret of Sahara Cleansing Water (I will review in the future). It was a killer deal on Costco where I got 2 full sized products for basically the of one.

📝Side note: I LOVE buying skincare products from Costco!

Huxley's Cleansing Gel gently, but effectively gets rid of excess oil, makeup debris, pollutants and other pore-cloggers that may cause blemishes. Formulated to be pH-balanced and infused with nourished Sahara Cactus Oil, the cleanser creates a sudsy foam by just adding water. Organic Sahara Prickly Pear Cactus, orange, Centella Asiatica and willow bark extracts provide nourishment and anti-blemish benefits.

The star ingredient that Huxley likes to use is Sarah Prickly Pear Seed Oil. This ingredient is discovered in an extreme environments, like deserts.
  • Vitality surviving an extreme environment with a 50-degree daily temperature variance
  • A beauty treasure found in the Sahara Desert. In order to extract just 1 liter of this oil, it takes 36 hours of hand-labor to separation 1 million seeds.
  • Far lighter with a greater moisturizing effect than argan oil due to it's high content of linoleic acid.
  • An anti-aging effect due to Vitamin E (tocopherol) content that's over 400 times higher than olive oil.
Main Ingredients:
💦Hyaluronic Acid - increasing hydration retention
💦Orange Extract & Lemon Extract - clean, smooth skin
💦Centella Asiatica Extract - pore care
💦Betula Alba Bud Extract - helping address skin problems

How To Use:
Pump an appropriate amount of cleansing gel into the palm of your hand. Add water and work into a lather. Gently massage onto skin and rinse off with lukewarm water.

How I Use It:
I used this as my morning facial cleanser to wash my face of all the grime, oils, and leftover skincare from the night before.
First, I wet my face, then I pump the cleanser once into my hands and gently massage the gel all around, creating a thin lather. Once I feel like my skin is clean enough, I rinsedy skin with warm water.

Below are pictures of me trying the cleansing gel as a face cleanser and makeup remover
Here's a Before/During/After of me using the cleansing gel on my face.
From the Before, you can see my face is oily from the skincare and natural oils that from the night before.
In the During, you can see the cleansing gel creates a thin lather with really light foam.
After washing off the cleanser, my face and pores look and feel clean, although, I will admit my skin did feel a tiny bit tight, but it wasn't a bad thing.
Here's a closeup of the thin lather that's produced from the cleansing gel.
Here's a closeup of my cheek. Again, my skin feels nice and clean after using the cleanser. My pores look cleared. There's no irritation to my skin and it doesn't cause me to breakout. My skin feels nicely refreshed and soothed after using this cleanser.
Here's a look at my forehead. You can really see the oils here and see the major difference my skin looks after using this cleansing gel. My skin's clean, not oily, soothed, and feels great!

Here's a Before look of me using this Cleansing Gel as a makeup remover.
After lathering the cleansing gel around on the makeup, you can see all the makeup is still slightly present except for the eyeshadow (which is probably just been rubbed all over/all around).
After washing off the cleanser with warm water, you can see basically all the makeup is removed. You can very lightly still see the Teal Pencil Eyeliner and the Black Liquid Eyeliner.  It's a very faint makeup leftover.

Overall, this is a good cleanser! I quite like the smell of it and I would consider it a good cleanser. My skin always feels clean, refreshed, and soothed.

The smell is really reminiscent of the Huxley Oil Essence, makes me think maybe all Huxley products have about the same smell.

The gel consistency of this cleanser is nice, making it spread easily all over the skin. I know Huxley tries to make it seem like it makes a lot of lather, but I find the lather to be quite minimal, only a thin, light layer. However, the lather is good enough to go into my pores to clean them out.

As a makeup removes, it did a decent job, but didn't remove everything. There was leftover eyeliner, both pencil and liquid, but it was really faint. I think if I had used this cleansing get as a 2nd step face cleanser, after using an oil cleanser, or if I had just did another round with the cleansing gel, all the makeup would've been fully removed.

Rate (out of 5 stars): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
This is a good cleanser! I like how it makes my skin feel, soothed, clean, and fresh. I think it's a great 2nd step cleanser and it gets the job done. I would recommend this cleanser for everyone to try!
