Review: Neogen Real Fresh Green Tea Cleansing Stick
Hi Everyone!
This week's topic will be another cleansing stick, one that I used concurrently with the Su:m37 Miracle Rose Cleansing Stick that I reviewed last week.
This one is the Neogen Real Fresh Green Tea Cleansing Stick. As I stated in my previous review, I am a big fan of cleansing sticks. They are super portable, easy to use, and so far, very effective.
I've always been a big fan of Neogen products. I've review this Bio Peel Gauze Pads in the past, which I loved! I've used there cleansing foams before which were all very good. I knew there was a high chance I would really like this cleansing stick as well, so I was really excited to buy it and try it out.
This cleansing stick is suppose to glide on the skin to cleanse away impurities and makeup while also scrubbing off all trapped dead skin cells for cleaner and smoother skin.
One big concept about this cleansing stick is its LOW pH. In order to try and prevent any skin dryness and tightness after cleansing, Neogen made this cleansing stick with a low pH of 5.5-6. It is said that if a cleanser has too high of a pH, then its what causes that tight and dry feeling after washing your face. I feeling which I absolutely HATE. Maybe that's what's causing that squeeky clean feel?
It is formulated with naturally derived ingredients with effective natural cleansing benefits. From The Klog Blog, Charlotte Cho explains how there are, out of 22 ingredients, 13 natural oils in this cleansing stick. These natural oils help to break down makeup and oil-based impurities, kind of like double-cleansing in stick form. Some of the more notable oils are coconut oil and olive oil.
Embedded throughout the cleansing stick is real crushed green tea leaves, which provide the benefits of soft exfoliation while the skin cleansing formula works to remove makeup, impurities, and dirt on the skin with a fresh and moisturizing finish.
Green tea is like a superfood. Not only is it good to drink and great for you body, but it's amazing on your skin too! Green tea is said to be a very effective ingredient against signs of premature aging! AKA it's anti-aging!!!
The green tea is finely milled, then quickly dry up to provide a more stiffer feel in the cleansing stick so that when rubbing on the face, it provides an exfoliation. Which compared to the su:m37 cleansing stick is REALLY different since the rose petals there were basically just sitting on my skin doing nothing.
One of the star oils in the cleansing stick is the Evening Primrose oil. This oil has the ability to soothe and calm the skin, making it a great ingredient, especially for people who have sensitive skin.
Bring sensitive skin into play, the green tea leaves are also great for sensitive skin too!
It is said that this cleanser has some brightening effects due to the use of lemon peel oil and orange peel oil, but tell you the truth, I didn't really notice any.
There are some research results that I would like to share with you. Based on clinical trials conducted on 21 women:
- 11% increase in moisture level
- 29% decrease in dead skin cells
Size: 80 g / 2.28 oz.
Color: The cleansing stick itself is off-white-ish and there are green tea leaves embedded inside it.
Texture: Feels much more firm and stiff when compared to the su:m37 cleansing stick, but I wouldn't say it's hard to the point like a bar soap. It's still much softer than a bar soap, but it is still hard that it doesn't constantly have chunks coming off.
Fragrance: There is a light green tea smell. Usually, green tea isn't a strong scent, so there is also a floral undertone to it. I actually really like the smell of this cleansing stick! Although, the scent is not as stronger and fragrant as the su:m37 cleansing stick, I still feel like this stick smells really good.
Packaging: It's in a plastic tubing, but you can actually see through the tubing. This is good, because you can actually see how much is in there and how much you have left as you continue to use it.
Mechanism: You need to twist the tubing to get the product out. Counter-clockwise to get more out. Clockwise to push the stick down.
Solutions for:
- Pore
- Dullness and uneven skin texture
- Dryness
Full Ingredients List: Glycerin, purified water, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, palmitic acid, stearic acid, lauryl betaine, betaine, camellia sinensis leaf(0.3%), camellia sinensis seed oil(0.1%), camellia japonica seed oil, olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, helianthus annuus (sunflower)seed oil, limnanthes alba (meadowfoam) seed oil, oenothera biennis (eveningprimrose) oil, tocopheryl acetate, citrus aurantifolia (lime) oil, ocimum basillicum (basil) oil, cananga odorata flower oil, citrus limon (lemon) peel oil, origanum heracleoticum floweroil, citrus aurantium dulcis (orange)peel oil, fragrance.
This product is CRUELTY-FREE!!!
Great for ALL skin types!!!
As you can see from a closeup of the cleansing stick, it is riddled with green tea leaves!
How To Use:
Gently massage the cleansing stick over damp face in a circular motion. Wet fingertips and lightly massage over face and neck to create a lather and cleanse the face. Rinse off with lukewarm warm.
How I Use It:
I only used this cleansing stick at night in the shower after I have used a cleansing oil. I prefer to just wash off my makeup in the shower and it's just easier to use this cleansing stick at the same time there as well.
I twist it up and swipe the stick all over my face and neck, then I gently massage the cleanser on my face. If there are any areas that has the green tea leaves, I try to rub a little more there for that exfoliation effect. Sometimes, I would just directly use the stick and rub continuously at areas that I want more exfoliation, like at an acne area. Once a decent foam as formed and I feel that my skin is cleaned enough, I rinse my face off with warm water.
BELOW will be a trial on how well this cleansing stick is able to wash off makeup.
Here are the swatches of the makeup I used to test.
Left: Secret Key Skinny Real Quick Eyeliner
Right: Tarte Tarteist Lash Paint Mascara
Here's a swatch of the cleanser all over the makeup and after I have massaged it around a bit. There wasn't much of a foam created, but it could be because I didn't have that much water on my hand. You can faintly see the green tea leaves all over my hand. Also, there aren't many cleansing stick chunks which is good!
After washing off the cleanser, look! All the makeup is gone!
Overall, I really liked this cleansing stick! I definitely preferred it over the su:m37 cleansing stick.
While both cleansing sticks smell really REALLY good and do a great job at removing makeup. I like the texture of the Neogen cleansing stick better. I like that it is a stiffer and harder stick, not constantly breaking up on me, so that I don't end up using more and wasting more product.
It is just as travel friendly as the su:m37 cleansing stick. The sizing it a little different between the 2. The Neogen one is longer and more narrow in shape while the su:m37 one is wider and shorter.
I also like the green tea leave a lot better in this stick. The leave teas are much "tougher" so it actually gives a light exfoliation to the skin. When compared to the su:m37 cleansing stick, the rose petals there were basically useless and non-efficient.
As mentioned previously, it does a great job at removing makeup and impurities. My skin feel clean and not dried out when using this stick. I guess the whole low pH thing is true!
Pricewise, it really depends on where you look to see where it's cheaper. Some websites sell this cleansing stick cheaper than others. If comparing to the su:m37 cleansing stick, the Neogen one is generally much CHEAPER and they give the SAME amount of product. So in the end, the Neogen one be more worth to buy in my opinion.
Rate (out of 5 stars): ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I highly recommend this cleansing stick to everyone to try and I would definitely buy it again! I really like it as a cleanser and it does a really good job at remove makeup as well.
UPDATE: 6/27/2020
As stated in my instagram post, I received this cleansing stick from Stylekorean as part of their Try Me, Review Me campaign in return for my honest opinion. I'm not going to repeat any facts about the product since you can just read that above. However, last time, I didn't show any pictures of how well this cleansing stick works on my face, I only showed it's work on removing makeup. Therefore, this updated will be showing how well this cleanser is at washing my face.
On the day I took the pictures below, I had a busy morning doing house cleansing. I had done a week's worth of laundry, taken care of my dogs, and vacuumed my whole house. I hadn't washed my face from the night before, so my face was really oily and grimy.
Here's a close-up of the cleansing stick. In the BEFORE, you can see the stick is embedded with Green Tea Leaves. It's has a hard, but still soft form that doesn't collapse when pressed/gliding along the skin. In the AFTER, you can see the cleansing stick hasn't crumbled after I rubbed it all along my face. There is a dip on the side, probably meaning I just happen to keep rubbing that side of the stick on my face.
In the BEFORE, you can see how oily my skin looks, it's especially noticeable on my forehead. AFTER washing my face with the cleanser, my forehead is no longer oily and my skin feels and looks clean. My skin doesn't feel tight or dry.
On the Left: This is how my face look after I had rubbed the cleansing stick all over my face. I haven't done anything else besides just gliding the stick all over. It already started to foam a little since I had already wet my face.
On the Right: This is how my face looks after massaging the cleanser all over my face with my hands. It creates a light, airy foam. There are also flecks of Green Tea Leaves that are on my face which are great at providing a light exfoliation. The leaves aren't harsh on my skin, not scratching me and are easy to wash off.
These are BEFORE/AFTER pictures of my cheeks. My skin looks and feels clean. Afterwards, my pores are clean, but not tightened, but that's not something I was expecting to happen. My skin doesn't feel tight or dry.
Here's a close-up of my forehead. You can see in the BEFORE that my forehead looks shiny and oily. In the AFTER, you can see it's no longer oily and nicely cleaned.
Overall, my opinion from last time hasn't changed. I still really like this cleansing stick and I would highly recommend everyone give it a try. There are places where you can try to find it cheaper, usual places are going to be either Amazon or Yesstyle (for a cheaper price). Unless another website is have a sale or a discount code, most places do tend to sell the stick around the same price.
It's a great face cleanser! I love that it's cleaning my face while providing a light exfoliation. It doesn't irritate my skin and I love the smell of green tea.
So not only is it a great make-up remove (as I showed in my previous review above), but it's also a great facial cleanser that is great for all skin types. It's travel-friendly, lightweight, and convenient.
