Review: Beauty of Joseon Apricot Peeling Gel

Hi Everyone!

Last week, I wrote a review for one of my favorite peeling gels from Faith in Face. This week I want to review another peeling that is getting quite popular in the Korean skincare world.

I'm a HUGE fan of Beauty of Joseon skincare products! I've tried every single on of their skincare products and I think there's only ever been 1 product that I didn't really like (their cleanser).
I originally first bought this peeling gel as a Beauty of Joseon skincare set from yesstyle.com where in the set contained the Dynasty Cream, Sleeping Mask, Peeling Gel, and Cleansing Balm. When I had first bought this skincare set, the peeling gel had just come out of the market and was relatively new.
Afterwards, I also got this peeling gel from Blingdear.com in another Beauty of Joseon set that they gifted me. Lastly, I got this peeling gel AGAIN as a 'Thank You' gift from Beauty of Joseon themselves after I helped review their newest Bubble Toner (which I will later review on my blog).

As you can see, I've used multiple bottles of this peeling gel and have a lot of experience with it.

This peeling gel from Beauty of Joseon is a mild exfoliator that uses natural enzymes from apricots and apple fruit extracts to gently remove dead surface skin cells that cause a dull complexion, plus excess sebum and dirt inside pores. Formulated with naturally derived Hanbang (Korean traditional herbal medicine) ingredients like apricot flower and fruit extracts, Apple fruit extract and Prunus salicina fruit extract. Encourages skin cell turn-over which gives more brighter complexion for a glowing skin as the apricot fruit extract, a natural AHA, gently removes dead skin cells, helps reducing enlarged pores.

Eliminates dead skin cells mildly by forming a protective polymer on the skin. The age-away effect of anti-oxidant apricot flower provides anti-aging moisture. Apricot vitalizes the skin with lively energy and softens the dead skin cells. Brightening apple extract contains AHAs and vitamin C, exfoliates and opens pores, while also protecting the skin from oxidation and tightening the pores.

The naturally occurring enzymes and mild polymers contained in the fruits of the first spring plum blossoms in the spring gently remove the dead skin cells and dirt from the pores. Plum and apple extracts for keratin softening, providing moisture and nourishment that keeps moisture after cleansing, making it a clear and silky skin.

How To Use:
  1. Wash and dry your face with towel
  2. Take the proper amount of Peeling gel
  3. Spread on the face except the eyes and mouth
  4. Massage lightly 1-2 minutes and wash with warm water
  5. Use for 1-2 times a week depending on the skin condition

How I Use It:
I only used this peeling gel once a week, on Wednesdays (I only exfoliate twice a week and I have a set day on when I do it) because I use a sugar mask exfoliator on Saturdays. I only used it at night after I have finished taking a shower.
NOTE: Beauty of Joseon seems to give directions to apply this peeling gel onto DRY skin. I DO NOT DO THIS. I always apply this peeling gel onto WET SKIN.
I would squeeze some of the peeling gel and dot my face with it, then I would spread the peeling gel around my massage it into my skin. I kept massaging for at least 1 minutes, feeling the dead skin that is being removed and seeing the white build-up on my face. Once I feel I have exfoliated enough, I would rinse off with warm water.

Below are images of my using the peeling gel

After using the peeling gel, my skin looks brighter and feels smoother.

You can see the dead skin that was removed from the peeling gel. My skin feels smoother and looks brighter/less dull.
Top to bottom: BEFORE, DURING, DURING, and AFTER
After using the peeling gel, the pores near the bridge of my nose (under my eye) are cleared out and tightened. My skin feels smoother and looks less dull. HOWEVER, since I applied this peeling gel on dry skin, it was actually really HARD to wash off bits of the white particles from the peach fuzz on my face. If you look at the AFTER picture, on the side of my cheek, you can see it's red there because I was basically scratching my skin when removing the peeling gel to try and remove all the residue off.

After using the peeling gel, I noticed the pores near my nose on my cheeks are tightened and cleared out. My skin looks less dull and feels smoother.
Here's a close-up of what the peeling gel looks like when it's being massage into the skin. You can see the white chunks/residue which is the dead skin cells that are being removes as well as any potential debris.
One thing I noticed whenever I use this peeling gel is that it also ends up peeling the skin on my hands. I find this to be really annoying.

Overall, this was an adequate peeling gel.
I'm happy to use it and I do find that it gets the job done. I do like that my skin looks brighter, looking less dull, and makes my skin so smooth. Essentially, I like the results from this peeling gel.

But. There are things that I didn't like. I don't like that the residue from the peeling gel gets stuck into my peach fuzz on my face, making it really hard to wash off. I'm literally scratching and picking it off my face, making my have red scratches all over my face. Later on, I found that if I first made my face WET with water and then applied the peeling gel, I wouldn't have this issue that the residue being stuck. This is the reason that I ALWAYS wet my face whenever I use peeling gels, I never want to go through the same thing again.

Also, I don't like that it peels the skin on my hands. It literally peels the skin on my fingertips, fingers, and even in between my fingers. It's so annoying because it makes my hands really patchy and dry. I've used plenty of other peeling gets that do NOT do the same thing and are just as good.

However, I do want to reiterate, I do like this peeling gel and I am a big fan of Beauty of Joseon. I think I will continue to use this peeling gel again and again. It is really affordable and gives a large amount.

Rate (out of 5 stars): ⭐⭐⭐⭐
While this was an adequate peeling gel. I was really annoyed that it always peeled the skin on my fingers/hands and it caused the build up to get stuck on my skin and the peach fuzz on my face, making it really hard to wash off. However, it does do a good job at peeling, removing all my dead skin.
