Review: Beauty of Joseon Pure Cloud Bubble Toner

Sorry for being absent for so long. I started attending a Physician Assistant (PA) Masters Program this fall and have been so busy with school. However, I'm on winter break right now and I want to try to get back into blogging and my reviews.

Today, I will be reviewing a product that I highly recommend!

I received this product for free back in October 2019 from Beauty of Joseon after being chosen as one of their Skin Hero Challengers to test out their new Toner that had just released and give my honest feedback.

As you may know, I've tried many products from Beauty of Joseon. I've basically tried almost all of their products now and have written many reviews.

When I heard BOJ (Beauty of Joseon) was about to release their Toner, I was super excited and I was planning to buy it right away. When I was surprisingly chosen as a Challenger, I swear, I screamed and was SO EXCITED!!! I remember calling my sister to tell her the exciting news. 😂

From Beauty of Joseon:

This mutli-tasking toner and cleansing water has rich and soft bubble texture which minimizes friction to the skin and gives calm and comfortable feeling. It creates silky smooth skin texture for the next steps in your skincare and makeup routine. This bubble toner is best to be used as a cleansing toner as it contains sugarcane extract which is a perfect exfoliant alternative for those who easily get irritated from physical exfoliating ingredients like AHA, BHA, and PHA. It gently sweeps away dead skin cells, revealing brighter a skin appearance while Vitamin B5 (Panthenol), Niacinamide and Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid protects skin barrier and provides intense moisture.

Sugarcane Extract is a star ingredient in this Toner that BOJ really likes to highlight.

It's a naturally-derived exfoliator that's strongly recommended for anyone who find chemical or physical exfoliators to be too irritating to the skin. This extract gently removes dead skin cells accumulated on the surface of the skin and sebum inside pores while being a mild toner that doesn't irritate the skin, even when used everyday.

Eggplant Extract and Tea Tree Leaf Extract, which have anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory effects, block excessive sebum secretion while preventing sebum from progressing into inflammation and acne.

Dipropylene Glycol, Panthenol, and Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, which are powerful moisture-supplying ingredients, densely fill the skin with moisture from deep inside the pores to the surface of the skin, being extremely effective for interior dryness.

Another highlight BOJ likes to talk about for this Toner is that it creates "Mochi Mochi" skin, where the skin is not only soft and bounce, but also has a nice natural glow from within. This Toner acts as a skin booster that increases the skin's absorption of the next applied products. In particular, it increases adherence and lasting effects of base makeup products, such as BB cream or foundation.

Here's just some close-ups of the words on the box of the Toner. It's not anything too different from what I've said at top and down below.

This is a pump bottle. When you push down, the toner comes out as a foam.

Since I was chosen as a Skin Hero Challenger, BOJ provided me with two packs of cotton pads and a packet of mini Radiance Cleansing Balms.

Size: 200 mL / 6.76 oz.

Color: White foam that becomes a clear liquid.

Fragrance: Has a really nice, light citrus-tea tree smell. I enjoy the scent of this toner. It's really light and not overbearing and disappears once the toner is absorbed into your skin.

Texture: Comes out as a soft, foam microbubbles, that turns into a liquid toner when smoothed/patted onto skin.

Absorbency: Absorbs really quickly into skin without any greasy or tacky feeling.

How To Use:

Pump 1-2 pumps onto a cotton pad and wipe form inside towards the outside of your skin for gentle exfoliation. For intense hydration, pump additional 1-2 pumps on your hand or face and pat gently onto skin.

• Tip 1: Use as a wipe-off toner: description above.
• Tip 2: Use as a moisture mask: After evening out the skin texture by wiping with the bubble toner on a cotton pad, take an additional pump and set on top of areas that need extra moisture. About 5 minutes later, remove the cotton pads and gently pat the remaining toner with your fingertips to absorb.

How I Use It:

I used this toner both morning and night at the beginning of my skincare routine. Sometimes I used a cotton pad and sometimes I'm just lazy and pump the toner directly into my hands.

I only need 1-1.5 pumps to cover my whole face and neck, 2 full pumps is honestly way too much for me. I would pump the foam either onto a cotton pad or my hand and gentle dot it all over my face, then I would lightly pat (with hands) or swipe up-and-upwards (with cotton pad). Once the toner is fully absorbed, I continued with the rest of my skincare routine.

Below, I have a series of photos documenting the results of this Toner after using it for 5 weeks

For the first set of pictures, I decided to first do 1 layer of the Toner with the cotton pad. 

With only 1 layer of the Toner, it provides a lightweight layer of hydration that's really nice. It absorbs quickly and my skin doesn't feel tight or dry.

Afterwards, I decided to do a 2nd layer of the Toner, but this time I just used my hands instead of a cotton pad.

You can see from the picture of my hand, once I applied the foam onto my cheek, you can see the foam turns into liquid. The 2nd layer of toner adds another layer of hydration. It doesn't even stuffy or heavy. Again, it's absorbed quickly into my skin and feels really refreshing. My cheek has a sort of glow/brightness to it that's more visible with the added 2nd layer.

Below, I'm testing to see how well the Toner removes tinted sunscreen

Since this Toner is suppose to be able to remove dead skin cells and sebum while cleaning your pores, I wanted to see if it would be able to remove the layer of tinted sunscreen I had on while cleansing my skin (since it can also be used as a cleansing water).

I used the Toner twice with 2 different cotton pads to see how much was removed. With the 1st try, you can visibly see the tinted sunscreen that was cleansed off. With the 2nd try, there was only a little bit of tinted color on the pad because most of it was removed during the 1st try.

Here's the BEFORE/AFTER pictures of how my skin looked before, when I still had the tinted sunscreen on, and after, when I finished using the Toner on a cotton pad for the 2nd try. My skin and pores look clean/cleared and my skin still have that same glow as if I still had that tinted sunscreen on. My skin feels surprisingly clean with all the sunscreen removed, but has that lightweight feeling of the Toner.

My skin has a brighter look to it after using the Toner, it's especially noticeable on my forehead where you can see a shiny spot on my forehead after I've applied the Toner.

My skin feels lightly hydrated.

Left: If you look at my pores around the area of my cheek-nose bridge, you can see the pores are minimized after I applied the toner.

Right: After applying the toner, it gives a brightness-shine to my skin which is really evident on my forehead.

After using this Toner for 2 weeks, my skin just has a natural brightness to it compared to the very beginning. The deep pimple I had from the very beginning (2 weeks ago) is slowly healing away (it's kind of hard to see from the picture on the left). Skin texture of my cheeks is still about the same. There is some healing of the acne scars/acne around my cheeks, but that might just be due to time since it has been 2 weeks.

Again, the pores on my cheeks have minimized after applying the Toner.

This set of pictures was in between Week 2 and Week 3

I feel like my pores have minimized after I applied the Toner. It's lightly hydrating.

This next set of pictures are after using this Toner for 3 Weeks

You can actually see where I have the Toner on my skin compared to areas that don't have it. If you look at the AFTER pictures for my cheek pictures, right under my eyes you can see a shiny area and then a dull area under the eyes, this is where I cut off on applying the Toner. So under the eye, it's shiny and bright from the Toner, whereas the under eye area without the Toner is what my original skin looks like - dull and lifeless.

For the nose picture, it's really evident how much my pores have changed if you compared the BEFORE/AFTER of the right side of the nose comparisons.

The acne scars I have on my forehead are slowly, but surely healing nicely. 

These next series of photos are after using the Toner for 4 Weeks

I definitely feel like there is a glow to my skin after using this Toner.

Again, you can see the massive difference to my skin when I do and don't have the Toner on. The Toner really does give my skin that brightness-glowing look.

This last set of photos are after using the Toner for 5 Weeks. These are my last set of pictures.

My skin overall have gotten smoother and glowy-er. The Toner does a great job making my skin feel lightly hydrated and clean.

If you compare the BEFORE of my cheek from the very beginning, you can see the acne scars on my cheek have faded some and are healing away. The acne on my cheeks have also slowly healed along the journey. My skin has a new glow to it whenever I have the Toner on.

Pores on my nose and cheeks have really minimized nicely from using this Toner.

The texture of my skin has gotten smoother and brighter.

Really liked this toner! it minimizes pores, helps to calm & soothe acne and redness. I feel like it helped the healing process of my acne as well. it's lightweight and absorbs quickly, not greasy and no tacky feeling. i like the smell. helps clean face. 1 pump is MORE than enough for my whole face and some of my neck. it's lightly hydrating and my face doesn't feel tight or dry after using.

skin texture has improved from using. acne problem has improved. i see some skin brightening effects too.

comes in a pump bottle. skin has a glow when using, makes skin look less dull.

toner is really gentle. didn't irritate skin at all, didn't cause me to break out.

Overall, I love this Toner! It's a great product that I've loved using (I've used 2 bottles of it already) and it makes as a great gift because of the beautiful packaging.

First off, I really like the scent of this Toner. That citrus-tea tree smell is so nice and refreshing, it's like a pick-me-up for your senses.

Secondly, I love this concept of a Foam-to-Liquid Toner. I've never used a foam toner nor had I ever seen a foam toner until I was given this one from Beauty of Joseon. The foam is so light, yet it provides great light moisture that can be layered on with no issues. Even if you layer this toner on, it doesn't leave any oily/greasy or tacking residue at all.

There's no stinging, burning, or irritation from this toner whatsoever. Not even on open wounds or freshly popped acne.

Thirdly, I love that this Toner is also a cleansing water. It really does help clean out all the gunk for my pores, leaving behind a nice clean surface. When I used it to remove the tinted sunscreen and sweat that I had on, I thought it was great that I only needed to used two pumps, one pump per cotton pad, in order to fully clean my face. I always get a great kick out of using the Toner on a cotton pad because I like to see how clean my skin is after I've showered or how clean my skin is after I've washed off a face mask.

Fourthly, this Toner really does help minimize pores! I notice the pores on my cheeks and nose have minimized or disappeared whenever I've applied this Toner. Additionally, I love the brightening, natural glowing look my skin has whenever I use this Toner. It's a natural glow that makes my skin look so healthy.

Lastly, I feel like this Toner really has help the healing process on my skin. I noticed my acne scars and acne have slowly healed as time went on from using this Toner. The mild exfoliation from this Toner has also helped improve the texture of my skin, making it feel smoother and softer.

I love this toner! It's truly one of my favorite toners that I enjoy using. I've already used 2 bottles of it and I even bought one as a gift for someone else to try.
I would highly recommend this toner for everyone to try. It's great for all skin types and it's really gentle and has amazing effects and results.
